Is Sam Darnold finally getting the respect he deserves, or is it still too early to tell?

Sam Darnold did it again this season and won the fourth consecutive match since the start of September. This time around, the Vikings laid waste to multiple Super Bowl winners, Green Bay Packers.

Prior to starting his journey with Minnesota, Darnold was not as effective of a quarterback in the league but now, a former NFLer claims on his behalf that the QB in question deserves increased respect. Darnold embarked on a never-ending quest to find a stable team. He started his NFL career with the New York Jets. Soon, he shifted to the Panthers, then to the San Francisco 49ers. Now, at last, he is with Minnesota and is flourishing in his role.

He was brought in as a backup for the Vikings QB JJ McCarthy. On Good Morning Football, former wide receiver Isaiah Stanback demanded, “It’s time that we have to put some respect on Sam Darnold’s name.” He also added, “These guys [Vikings] are winning ball games the hard way and they’re doing it with somebody [who] was highly unexpected. But now he is able to step into the fold and these guys are trusting in their new QB 1.

Before halftime, the Vikings had the Packers with 28-0 on the scoreboard. This was a lot to take in for Green Bay fans who long awaited Jordan Love’s return from the injury that he sustained back in the first week. Vikings are 3-0 in NFC, and 4-0 in NFL.

Some of you would be urged to blame Darnold for Love’s failed comeback and that is an understandable situation. In fact, the game almost caused Jordan to sit at home once more.

Fortunately, this was only an injury scare and not the real deal where Jordan Love would have to get benched for the next three games again. So, even if the Packers lost, it was a close call for the fans. A lost game is better than having your QB 1 benched for the majority of the season.
