On October 27, 2023, the world-famous analyst Pat McAfee had a conversation with the Chiefs’ former quarterback. When inquired about Mahomes, Smith answered, “Obviously, I knew when they drafted him, the time was running… Like if I didn’t play good football, they were going to find somebody that could. So I knew I had that year to kind of make the most of it and ended up having a great season.”

He continued to talk about Patrick Mahomes and said, “Like all of a sudden, he’s making these no-look passes… and I’ll never forget like Eric Berry coming up to me, and he’s like ‘Hey man, you got to come see this throw he made.’ And literally, he’s throwing 20-yard dig routes across the middle. Just rare, rare talent and I think for me, the work ethic right like that. That’s the thing.”

Alex Smith believes nobody talks about Mahomes’ work ethic. Besides that, the QB also has a great character and stands as immense competition. The former QB continued his praises about Mahomes and said that he is a great dude, incredibly humble and relentless.
