Is Bo Nix the savior the Broncos have been waiting for? Sean Payton seems to think so!

For those in a dilemma concerning the Denver Broncos‘ QB battle, the answer has arrived. HC Sean Payton, the mastermind of the Broncos’ offense, has decided to make Bo Nix the leader of Denver against the Seahawks on September 8. The Rookie quarterback has been a sensation this preseason as he brought back the buzz to Dove Valley after Russell Wilson’s stint.

After Wednesday’s practice on August 21, 2024, head coach Sean Payton officially announced, “Bo Nix will be our starting quarterback, “ leaving his veterans like Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson in the running for the starting job. “We should not rush into taking such decisions. We want to see. …His performance has been outstanding,” Payton said. “Obviously, there is a lot of room for growth. There are many things on which we have to work.

He did not fail to acknowledge Stidham and Wilson’s presence in the squad. “I felt like — and I said this to [the media] two weeks ago — that room has been outstanding. [Jarrett] Stidham, certainly with his experience and then being able to work with Zach Wilson. All three of those guys. We’ve got some decisions as we get into the roster. I don’t want to get into all the other roster battles. That’s not for today. But Bo will start,” Coach Payton disclosed the locker room approach for the QB competition.

Payton can’t think of much else other than calling Nix “outstanding,” which he demonstrated in the training camp and a preseason opener. When a reporter texted Payton enquiring if Bo Nix fits into his scheme, Payton simply replied, “Good quarterbacks, the perfect scheme, fits anywhere.”

Bo Nix didn’t get this starting job, he earned it:

This decision to give the rookie QB the ball in the first game has received nods from the NFL town. The team safety P.J. Locke also admired the new QB. He said, “He’s super, super efficient. Man, I think he’s like a very seasoned rookie … the way he carries himself, the confidence he has.” Nix will become the Broncos’ first rookie quarterback starting in Week 1 since the No. 1 pick of the NFL Draft in 1983, John Elway.

As the season begins, all eyes will be on jersey No. 10. And if the preseason performances will be converted to regular season triumphs, then the Broncos’ offense enters a new era. He could create a winning season for the Broncos by turning Payton’s ‘Good Fit‘ into ‘Perfect Offense‘.

Bo Nix on being the Broncos starting QB

The three QBs in Denver received the news that Nix has won the competition for now. “Right out here on the practice field, I just grabbed each one of them… [Nix] smiled, he was good, he was getting ready to practice. We didn’t have cake or candles or anything,” Payton made the big announcement that will shape the Orange Army.

Meanwhile, Nix feels super excited and ready to get back to work again and start again. “You know, it was really cool. Not every day to get that news, “he said, talking to CBS Sports reporters on August 22, 2024. “As a room we’ve been working hard, and putting a lot of good things on film, putting a lot of good things on the practice field, and so to get that news is definitely a great thing.

Further, reporters asked, “At what point along the way here, you know, minicamp or in the camp? When did you start to feel like you, you know, feeling comfortable?” He confronted that there are still a few things he’s trying to gain comfort in and he doesn’t think as a quarterback, he will ever feel comfortable because there’s always a defense to go against.

Nix believes that there are always certain things to see or learn on a daily basis. “But I feel really comfortable where I’m at now, and I’m excited to get to the last week of preseason and then get to the full season,” he added. After Russell Wilson’s struggles, there is a new dawn of hope for the Broncos fans. Fans are buzzing about what 6-feet-2 could mean for the rest of the offense.

Nix’s ability to stay cool under pressure and keep drives alive is exactly what this team needs. Nix’s penchant for checking down the field could be a game-changer for guys like Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin. Bo Nix might just be the secret sauce that gets this offense back on track.
