While talking about the Broncos’ quarterback position, Payton stressed the importance of the decision, calling it “vital.” Moreover, the head coach referenced a meme he saw online that piqued his interest. Talking about how the joke was about Denver not being able to retain a QB, Payton accidentally mentioned, “-our next one,” hinting at Wilson’s exit.

“I saw this humorous meme the other day, and there’s a Bronco fan with a shirt on, and there was like eight quarterbacks’ names with a cross through it. Our job is to make sure that this next one doesn’t have a line through it.”
