$5 is all it costs for a coffee at Starbucks and fans are unwilling to pay less than that to watch a football game. That too on a Sunday night. But this is a reality for the New Orleans Saints vs Carolina Panthers matchup.

The teams are divisional rivals of the NFC South with a long and storied history. But with the Saints’ 3-game-losing streak and the Panthers’ 5-game-losing streak, it doesn’t scream an exciting matchup. The Saints’ stadium, Caesars Superdome, is one of the biggest ones in the league, and yet it remains empty.

It’s not that the Saints do not have loyal supporters. But they are frustrated with years of mismanagement at the franchise. Just this year, former Raiders’ QB, Derek Carr, was picked up by the Saints, for $150 million, but he hasn’t been optimal for them.

Many fans have claimed that they want the 29-year-old backup QB, Jameis Winston, to be the starter instead of the 32-year-old. HC Dennis Allen has a relationship with Carr back from his Raiders days, but his advancing age, poor performances, and injuries have the fans wanting more. Even though the team managed a win against the Panthers by 28-6.
A complete Panthers overhaul at the Saints
The Saints finally ended their losing streak by defeating the Panthers. Though every win is a win, this one isn’t as sweet. The Panthers are considerably one of the weakest teams this season in the entire NFL.

Derek Carr did have a decent game, throwing for 119 yards and 2 TDs. But his shoulder injury earlier this season and his two concussions within three weeks, ring the alarm bells for his future at the Saints.
