Injury, free agency, uncertainty, and now a clear four-year path with a new NFL team. Stefon Diggs went through a lot last year, and while recalling it, he has sent some dope and heartfelt messages to CJ Stroud and his Houston Texans teammates. The wide receiver signed a four-year, $69,000,000 deal with Mike Vrabel‘s New England Patriots, with a staggering $25,000,000 guaranteed. But this huge amount didn’t stop Diggs from leaving the city of Houston with a couple of humble, heartfelt messages.

His heart is filled with love for his teammates, and that’s what the Patriots WR wrote in his Instagram stories while posting several pictures with former teammates. First up, his message to the Texans’ QB1 said it all. Mentioning CJ Stroud in his IG story, Stefon wrote, “🔒 in forever CJ Stroud,” while sharing a pic with CJ. In another story, he shared a video of himself and former teammates entering the gridiron in black and red jerseys. The overlay text of the story goes like, “Got mad luv for the guys tr…”

The Buffalo Bills traded Stefon to the Houston Texans in the first week of April 2024, and since then, he has remained part of the roster for only eight games. In such a short time, he developed a brotherly bond with CJ, Tank Dell, and other teammates. A few hours ago, Dell and Stroud also shared their messages to Diggs. CJ posted a photo with Diggs on his IG story, writing, “Love ya 4L trim.” Along with him, Tank Dell, who suffered one of the scariest injuries last season, shared a message saying, “On da floor.” In fact, Dell has also shared his views on losing a teammate.

“Once you lose one of your star players, everybody’s got to step up. Even if you are one of the star players, you still have to step up and do more and produce more.” Though it was related to Stefon’s ACL injury, Tank Dell’s reply to Stefon being out for the rest of the season perfectly fits the current scenario. But that’s life—you have to face such things. In the NFL, it’s nothing new for franchises to trade players of all calibers and statures. The Texans’ HC made some crazy moves a few hours ago to remind us of just that.

DeMeco Ryans’s clever cap-saving move

A few hours ago, Stefon Diggs’s former team, the Houston Texans, made a clever move to create some cap space. DeMeco Ryans‘ franchise has taken Denico Autry‘s contract structure to the next level. To make some cap space, they have decided to restructure Denico Autry’s two-year, $20,000,000 contract.

According to his contract details, Autry was destined to receive $8.5 million in the upcoming season. But his contract has been restructured to give him $7.5 million in the upcoming year. He will get his share in the signing bonus while creating nearly one million dollars in available cap space. But hold on, this is not the end.

According to Ben Cooper of Sports Illustrated, “The reworked contract also adds two void years and $1 million available in per-game roster bonuses, creating about $4 million in cap space for the Texans.” This increases the team’s cap space to $15,422,997, per Over The Cap. The veteran defender played 10 games last season with a total of 14 tackles, out of which eight were solo tackles, and he recorded three sacks in the season.
