The Patriots hit the jackpot when they signed Stefon Diggs as their main wide receiver, leaving everyone shocked as it came out of nowhere. And if anything, this move already proves that HC Mike Vrabel is on the way to making massive roster changes for the upcoming season. Everyone understands how much Vrabel is capable of as a coach. Interestingly, he is a defensive line coach, but when he signed Diggs, it was clear that he had a strategy toward the offense, too. Surprisingly, the WR has shown his appreciation towards this by giving the Head Coach a tribute.

If you follow Diggs on social media, you’ve probably seen his story about Mike Vrabel. The WR actually uploaded a photo of the current Patriots HC from his playing days. And if you recall, then Vrabel played 14 seasons in the NFL as a linebacker, out of which he dedicated 8 seasons to the Patriots. He had a significant role in the team’s success under Bill Belichick and QB Tom Brady. The WR’s IG story has sparked broad fan reaction, as the buzz around his arrival with the Patriots has reached new heights.

Moving on, the team signed him to a three-year contract, indicating that Stefon Diggs can achieve wonders with them. Even Texans beat writer Aaron Wilson has praised the Patriots’ move of bringing in the WR. The Reporter noted that the 31-year-old is someone who can really complement the team’s offense. And if he’s coached by someone like Mike Vrabel, that’s the cherry on top.

Wilson stated in a YouTube video, “He fit in well. He was popular in the locker room. He was well-liked by the coaching staff. A lot of people said, ‘Well, he’s a diva’ and all that sort of stuff — it’s not really the way he was perceived in the locker room. He was perceived as a fun-loving personality and someone who is an individual, but what he does helps the collective.”

The quarterback, Drake Maye, would also like to have a wide receiver like Diggs. After all, last year’s stats show how much the WR was on fire. Diggs excelled with 47 receptions for 496 yards and 3 TDs in just 8 games, averaging 10.6 yards per catch. And who knows if the ACL injury he had last year did not happen, the WR could have been on a completely different level.

For the time being, he’d prefer to forget about 2024 and focus on having a successful season this year. After all, the WR’s future with the Patriots depends on his performance this year.

New England made one of the better decisions in the NFL’s new league while structuring Stefon Diggs’ contract. When viewed objectively, the wide receiver’s three-year contract looks like a pretty good deal for him. After all, the contract is worth $69 million and includes a $26 million guarantee. But, when it comes to the specifics of this contract, the Patriots have imposed a stringent restriction on the WR in order to keep his contract.

According to reports, Mike Vrabel’s team is unwilling to take a risk with Diggs. And this is why the contract that they offered him states that if the WR does not do well in the 2025 season, he may be released. And in this release, the team will not accept any potential accountability, such as dead cap money. Now that’s what a brilliant business move looks like.
