Stefon Diggs is enthralled after joining the New England Patriots! Former Bills WR recently made waves for signing a 3-year, $69 million contract with the Patriots. And, with the whopping deal that has $26 million guaranteed money, he became a prominent weapon for Patriots QB Drake Maye. With the new team, fans couldn’t help speculating his jersey number. Clearly, Stefon paid a massive amount to his teammate to wear the Texans’ top Jersey number (#1) in the last season. Amidst this, he seems happy while disclosing the good news for Maye’s other weapon- that is none other than his teammate and Patriots WR Jalyn Polk.
But, what’s the good news? Of course, it creates a bit of curiosity among his fans. Will Diggs’s teammate Jalyn, who wears the jersey number #1, as his former teammate Jimmie Ward be changing his jersey number too? Well, raising the curtain from this, the two-time All-Pro WR Diggs took to his official Instagram handle to confirm it all smartly. His IG post caption provided the details.
“What number we wearing?” the post text reads. It also includes the answer “#1.” “Nah we don’t do that & young boy boutta have a good year.. believe in em,” Stefon, 31, mentioned in his IG post caption. With his post caption, it is pretty much clear that the four-time Pro Bowler is not taking the #1 jersey away from the New England’s 37th overall pick, Polk. So, it is good news for Maye’s Weapon, Jalyn, who finished the season with the second-highest drop rate of 12.1 percent and 4th-lowest QB rating of 52.5.

Before being traded to the Texans in April 2024, Diggs sported the jersey number 14 during his 5 years tenure with the Vikings and 4 season with the Bills. But, he caught attention last season when he obtained the No. 1 jersey number from Texans safety Jimmie Ward. It was mentioned in SI report, published back on April 4, 2024. According to the report by Aaron Wilson of KPRC Houston, NFL standout WR Diggs paid teammate Ward over $100,000 to get the number one jersey from him.
However, this time it is not the case. Interestingly, former Vikings’ fifth round pick of the 2015 NFL draft’s thrilling update just came after he announced injury update for Patriots for the 2025 season.

The NFL WR also stated that he is ahead of schedule and “trying to stay there.” Additionally, he confirmed that he intends to be doing everything when practices start this summer. With this, he also made his intentions clear that he plans to “reel it back a little bit” to prevent any setbacks from pushing too far too quickly.

“When the whistle blows,” he added. “We’ll see. But right now, I’m ahead of schedule. I’m trying to stay ahead of schedule. I pretty much take it day by day. I try not to put the carriage before the horse, but here we are. Here’s the horse right here. I’ll let you know, though. We’ll keep playing it by ear and I’m going to stay ahead of schedule for now and I’ll let you all know, “ he stated further.
Undoubtedly, the Patriots signed Diggs to help their dominant player Maye advance as a QB in his second season. But, with this update, it is clear that the wideout’s health will play a critical role in that process. As of right now, it’s a wonderful announcement, and everyone will probably be determined to keep it that way until fall.
