Wakey wakey, Steel City! The Steelers are finally shaking things up in free agency with some jaw-dropping moves. And yeah, we’re still waiting on an official word about their quarterback situation. One thing’s for sure, though—Justin Fields won’t be their QB1 in 2025. The guy is off to the New York Jets for the 2025 season—probably for a better opportunity after what happened in the last season.

And if you’re thinking that the Steelers are done after moving on from Fields—think again. Because that’s not all. Besides Fields, Pittsburgh bid farewell to Najee Harris, Dan Moore, Donte Jackson, and James Daniels on day one of the tampering period—and oh, they also cut Larry Ogunjobi. Uff! That’s a long list of goodbyes—not just for the team, but for the players as well.

Right after the team parted ways with their RB, Harris, the tight end, Pat Freiermuth, hit up his official Instagram handle and bid farewell to his teammate. “I’ll miss you 22. Keep being you in LA!!!” Freiermuth wrote in his story. And honestly, that’s a great way to bid farewell to your teammate. Whether it was their on-field celebration or that workout in the gym, Freiermuth is surely going to remember every moment with Harris. And his IG stories are perfect examples of this.

As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Los Angeles Chargers have agreed to a deal with Harris. The contract terms include a one-year deal worth up to $9.25 million. Well, after parting ways with Gus Edwards, and J.K. Dobbins in free agency, the Chargers are surely looking for a starting running back in 2025. And guess what? They just signed one of the best RBs in the league.

The Steelers drafted Harris 24th overall back in the 2021 NFL draft. And let’s be real—the 27-year-old RB was totally Mr. Reliable for the Steelers. The guy’s been in pro football for four years and never missed a single game for the team. Yeah, just like that. In his four seasons with the Pittsburgh team, Harris appeared in every game, started in every game, and has recorded more than 1,000 rushing yards each year.

Take his last season, for instance. The RB recorded 1,043 yards on 263 carries and scored six touchdowns. And the rushing TDs in his career? Well, in his 68 regular season games, Harris has 28 rushing TDs in addition to 6 receiving TDs as well. Talk about a dual-threat and a total nightmare for the opposing defenses. No wonder the Chargers offered him a one-year deal to play for them.

As for the Steelers…well, they’re surely making some spicy headlines when it comes to bidding farewell to the players.

Five other players joined Justin Fields to leave Pittsburgh

Ever since the Steelers lost the playoff game, the Steelers Nation has been waiting for the quarterback news. Monday’s headlines dropped, but yeah… definitely not what fans were hoping for. The Jets signed Justin Fields for $40M that included $30M fully guaranteed for a couple of years. That said, it’s now confirmed that Fields is not going to be the starting QB1 in 2025. Bitter news for the fans.

For months, there were speculations that the Steel City will sign Fields considering he’s young and more athletic. But nah, it looks like Pittsburgh is still on a hunt of a veteran QB. Is it Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers—we’ve no clue. Meanwhile, the Steelers are far from done after releasing Fields.

Just a few hours in free agency, the Tennessee Titans lose their purse and signed the former Steelers’ LT, Dan Moore, to a four-year lucrative deal. And honestly, that’s a big one. Moore will stack up $82M with $50M in guaranteed in the next four years with the Titans. The guy started 66 games for the Steelers in the last four seasons.

However, his last season could be a major concern for the Titans. Let’s just say Moore is coming after a rough phase of his career. The LT finished his 2024 season with a league-high 12 sacks allowed. So yeah, the Titans were definitely hoping he wouldn’t pull the same stunt in 2025.

On the flip side, the former Steelers’ cornerback Donte Jackson will be joining his teammate Najee Harris in LA. Yeah, you read that right. Jackson signed a two-year $13M deal with the Chargers. The guy’s coming to LA after having a notable season of his career. The 29-year-old CB recorded 38 combined tackles and 5 interceptions in 2024.

In the long list of players leaving Pittsburgh, James Daniels and Larry Ogunjobi are the final two names. While Daniels is off to Miami for the 2025 season after putting pen to paper on a 3-year $24M deal, Ogunjobi is yet to sign a new contract in the league after the Steelers released him. Pff! Let’s just hope the Steelers are done with releasing the players. After all, we’re yet to get an official confirmation on the starting QB.
