April 12 holds a special significance for the Steel City of Pittsburgh. It’s known as 412 Day, a celebration of the city’s identity and heritage. This unique holiday pays tribute to Pittsburgh’s area code, 412, and provides an opportunity for residents, affectionately called Yinzers, to come together and honor their hometown.

In 2018, thanks to a proclamation by former Mayor Bill Peduto in collaboration with Shop 412, a local retailer that celebrates Pittsburgh’s culture, 412 Day was officially recognized as a holiday.
