Is Cris Collinsworth living in the past with his outdated praise for Russell Wilson?

Another game, another hate! After being told to “mute” in the Steelers vs Cowboys game last time, Cris Collinsworth faced another jab by the NFL fans. And it’s once again because of his arguably hyped Russell-Wilson’s take.

During the Week 7 game of the Steelers against the Jets, commentator Cris Collinsworth praised the quarterback Russell Wilson, who came up to play as the starter after his injury episode. However, hyping him up in his first game didn’t sit well with many. And hence, the fans on social media appeared fumed on Collinsworth.

So, what happened was, during the game on Sunday night football, Cris Collinsworth portrayed Wilson in such a way that it looked like the quarterback was in great form, something similar to his era with the Seahawks. But in reality, Wilson has a long way to go to prove himself once again, especially after the stir in Denver.

In addition to that, Coach Mike Tomlin’s decision of choosing him over QB2 Justin Fields after his 4-2 standings, has also created a buzz on social media. Therefore, all this fuss has developed anger among the NFL community. And this isn’t the first time for the ESPN caller!

Earlier too, while talking about the Steelers’ aspirations of winning a Super Bowl, Cris Collinsworth brought Russell Wilson to the limelight. But fans thought it was irrelevant to talk about Wilson’s previous Super Bowl win, which happened about 11 years ago, in that game. It was also irrelevant because Fields was in action as QB 1 in the Cowboys’ game. Hence, the continuous results of these arguable mistakes, are – fans are fumed on the commentator.

Another one too felt the same, as they wrote, “Cris Collinsworth thinks Russell Wilson is still 2017 Russ not 2024 Russ.” Actually, in 2014 and 2017, Rodgers and Wilson were considered great players in the league. However, now with time, both the quarterback’s performances have arguably deteriorated.

Hence, comments like, “No matter how Cris Collinsworth tries to spin it, Russell Wilson is washed up. It was a mistake by Tomlin benching fields when they are 4-2. Fields has more upside at this point than Wilson does,” and “I know Cris Collinsworth is a generational glazer but this is a new low for him. Russell Wilson hasn’t been any good for FIVE YEARS,” clearly tell that fans aren’t happy with Collinsworth’s commentary. As they said, “Whenever I see Cris Collinsworth on my tv: (a visual GIF of a puppet saying I can’t take anymore)
