The rising American football quarterback playing for the  Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL, Joe Burrow is carrying forth the football legacy of his family. Born on December 10, 1996, in Ames, Iowa, to Jimmy and Robin Burrow, Joe was raised in Athens, Ohio. During his college years, he came to the limelight with his performances at LSU. Joe went forth to be drafted first overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 NFL Draft.

And, with a scintillating QB career, Joe has much to owe to his parents, who have helped him build a solid foundation. Establishing himself as one of the most promising young QBs in the NFL, Joe’s parents have played an elemental role in shaping him both on and off-field.

The Burrow family’s role in Joe’s triumphs

Jimmy Burrow, Joe’s father has an extensive career in football, spanning up to 40 years, both as a player and coach. He was a star player as a QB for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and then transitioned to becoming a coach later. He has excellently coached various prominent institutions, including the top names – Washington State, Nebraska, and Ohio University.

As a dedicated father, Jimmy later retired from coaching, to offer moral and emotional support to Joe. Jimmy has trained Joe from his early days, helping him groom his skills. He has attended each game of Joe’s senior season games at  LSU. Not only this, Jimmy also is a dedicated philanthropist, as he co-founded the Athens County Food Pantry with his wife in 2010. He serves as the Vice President of the Joe Burrow Foundation, and his wife is the secretary and treasurer. Joe launched the concerned foundation in October 2022, which seeks to address food insecurity and children’s mental health in Louisiana and Ohio.

Robin Burrow, Joe’s mother is undoubtedly one of his biggest fans, she is the Principal of Eastern Elementary School in Appalachian Meigs County, Ohio. During his first Super Bowl appearance in 2022, she remarked, “I don’t think there is a word that describes how full of joy and happiness that we are right now,” talking proudly of her son.

Robin is enthusiastically engaged in advocacy work for children, keen on making a positive change. She is a board member of the Appalachian Children’s Coalition, serving her community through and through.

Fighting against odds with family’s support

Joe’s parents have together nurtured his passion and talent in football, helping him rise to success. “Joe, Robin and I, we love Athens, we love Ohio, we love the Bengals and we love all the people,” Jimmy remarked. Joe also has two older brothers, Jamie and Dan, who have taken forth the family legacy of football, playing for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Joe’s girlfriend, Olivia Holzmacher, has staunchly supported him for more than four years, spanning from college football to the NFL. Despite facing setbacks, including the Bengals’ loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game in 2023, Joe has the immense support of his family to make strides in the football world. He has promising stats, as in just 10 games, Joe has covered 65.3% of his passes for 2,688 yards, five interceptions, and 13 touchdowns. And, now he is looking forward to accelerating his career as the ultimate QB.
