Imagine growing up in a family of athletes. Your dad is a former MLB player, and your elder brother is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. This is the life of Zoe Mahomes, the 10-year-old soccer star of her family. She wakes up every day inspired by these icons, sharing their name and genetics. As she strides in her sporting career, she embraces the jersey number 15 of her elder half-brother, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. With such a legacy, it’s no wonder she has a fighting mentality.
On July 11th, a reel shared from Zoe’s Instagram handle showcases her flair and trickery on the ‘futsal’ court. Futsal is a 5v5 indoor style of soccer. The reel was a highlight of the young Mahomes’ match, where she outclassed her opponents with her dribbling, nimble footwork, passing, and ‘twinkle toes’. The caption read, “Tough times never last, but tough people do.” Quite deep, don’t you think? It’s a perfect fit for this highlight reel.

Besides this, the famous song “Tough” by Lana Del Rey and Quavo accompanied the reel. This line from the lyrics, “I’m cut like a diamond shinin’ in the rough,” was befitting of the young girl’s skills shown in the clip. Although Zoe’s mother, Anika Cooper, manages her account, the credit for her craft and hard work at such a young age belongs solely to her.

For the futsal game, the 10-year-old wore an all-black jersey with “15” imprinted on the back with white. Talk about Pat’s influence on her. However, this wasn’t the first time she flaunted the famous “Mahomes 15” on her back.
Patrick Mahomes’ massive influence on Zoe Mahomes
Another reel posted from Zoe’s account a couple of weeks ago featured a cover photo of her back with the iconic number and surname. In this reel, she was trying her hand at her elder brother’s sport, football. Patrick Mahomes is a generational talent, no doubt. But we should not forget that he shares a common gene with Zoe through their father, Mahomes Sr. This connection was evident in her game.

The 10-year-old was throwing passes like a pro, positioning herself like a natural. She dictated most of the play during that game of flag football, clearly in command of herself. The caption of the reel read, “Ooohhh la la la la …that was fun. First time playing QB!” Some things never change.
Patrick’s influence on his 18-year-younger half-sister is already showing! Be it off the field or on it, regardless of the sport. From donning the No. 15 with grace, signing her first contract with a soccer club, to endorsing a soccer brand, Zoe has upheld the Mahomes banner high. Now, what do you think is next on the cards for her?
