The New England Patriots are not inspiring confidence. The team is 2-9 so far, and it is Belichick’s worst season in the tenure of his career, which spans over two decades. But it is not only Bill Belichick that is upset with the team. The wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster apparently had some argument on the sideline while competing against the New York Giants.

Dov Kleiman’s tweet confirmed that there might be a Davante Adams situation with the Patriots WR, Smith-Schuster. His career has been spiraling downhill ever since he made that switch from the Kansas City Chiefs. Maybe the fact that he is not utilized enough and the team’s constant botches have finally affected this veteran WR.

The game against the New York Giants has been close but abysmal for the team, especially for Smith-Schuster. He had an argument with the Patriots’ WR coach, Troy Brown, and he threw his helmet and sat down. He later confronted the TE Hunter Henry about the same. The incident came after the Patriots QB Mac Jones got intercepted after throwing a botched pass to Demario Douglas.

Mac Jones’ second interception was the last draw for the Patriots WR. Douglas was double-teamed at the time Jones decided to throw him a pass, and this angered Smith-Schuster. This happened in the second quarter of the game. Besides this, Schuster did not make a single catch in the first half of the game. This begs the question of whether the Patriots are using their weapons in the best possible manner.

So, how much of this is Bill Belichick’s fault?

There are already rumors about Bill Belichick’s sacking, which might add more to the veteran coach’s botch list. The WR had one of his best seasons playing for the Kansas City Chiefs before transferring to the Patriots in March and signing a three-year contract with the team. He played through an injured knee briefly in his tenure with the Chiefs.

Ever since Smith-Schuster came to the Patriots, his performance has severely taken a toll, and in the Sunday game against the New York Giants, the WR had two receptions out of 4 targets for 10 yards and did not score a touchdown. Maybe this got him angry at Mac Jones because his botched pass caused the Patriots to lose the game. “Smith-Schuster then slammed his helmet, sat down for a moment, and got back up to plead his case to Hunter Henry,” Kleiman quoted a source as saying.

The Patriots lost to the Giants by a 7-10 score and have a dismal record of 2-9 as of this game. Rumors of Bill Belichick getting fired are spreading like wildfire. But this also asks the question of whether Smith-Schuster is wasting his career with the Patriots, just like at one point people were concerned about the trajectory of Davante Adams’ career.
