“I’m cool with being underrated.” Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback-turned-NFL hopeful Jalen Milroe has always had undeterred confidence in himself. Despite a 19-13 ReliaQuest Bowl upset at the hands of Sherrone Moore’s Michigan Wolverines—where the signal-caller fumbled twice, threw an interception and took a fourth-down sack—there’s hardly much that can stop him from aiming for the skies. Currently waiting on an NFL Draft call, the QB already seems halfway there with a Wisconsin visit impending. But before we get to that…
It’s worth noting that the 22-year-old player has all the makings of a star. In fact, NFL Network Draft Analyst Daniel Jeremiah had even described him as an “elite, elite runner” and compared his running skills to 2023 NFL Draft’s fourth overall pick, Anthony Richardson. And then there was award-winning reporter Hondo Carpenter, who provided some interesting (read: excellent) updates from the NFL Scouting Combine.“Jalen Milroe is really impressive. There were a lot of people that were pleasantly surprised at him…His answers were tremendous, his knowledge was extremely impressive…In fact one of the team’s asked Jalen Milroe a series of questions about what he was really good at, and he gave them answers. Then they asked him what can he could get better at. And his answer was How much time do you have?” Carpenter had said in a conversation on the “Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast” just last month.
Well, no wonder people are hyped for his future. However, looks like he’s already put a confident step forward. As per the latest round of reports by The Athletic‘s NFL Draft Analyst Dane Brugler, “Source: Alabama QB Jalen Milroe has accepted an invitation to attend the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay.” But what does this mean? For starters, his draft stock is rising. BIG TIME. Why? Well, as per Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz in February, this year the NFL is “being very selective” about who they invite to the Draft. While 13 players walked across the stage last year, this year only eight to 10 players who are “are all top picks” will receive an invitation.

Notably, the William V. Campbell Trophy winner excelled at everything he did during his college years. In four years at Alabama Crimson Tide, the QB played 38 games (27 started) and recorded 426 of 663 passes (64.3% completion rate) for 6,016 passing yards and 45 touchdowns with 20 interceptions. He even picked up his rushing game with 375 rushes for 1,577 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns.
Jalen Milroe has turned heads now by accepting the invitation to the 2025 draft. This year, the draft will take place from April 24 to April 26 at Lambeau Field, Green Bay, in Wisconsin. The host franchise that has injury concerns hanging over their QB, Jordan Love, will also have a chance to talk to the talented rookie. For some fans, there’s a bigger meaning.
It simply means that teams are ready to draft him. And they have given him indications of being drafted in the first round. His numbers at the Crimson Tide put him into the record book. He finished college with the 7th most passing yards and 8th most touchdowns. Milroe also became one of the 9 QBs who completed the program with a pass completion rate of more than 60%.

The NFL might be getting ready to welcome a star who would chart his destiny by his hard work and tenacity. But he still has a long way to go. Amid this, the Packers are keeping an eye on their QB.
What’s your perspective on:
Could Jalen Milroe be the next big thing in the NFL, or is he just hype?

Jordan Love reveals major injury update amid Jalen Milroe announcement
Once Jalen Milroe announced his acceptance of the NFL Draft, the rumor mill started churning—a possibility of replacement. But that remains a far-fetched idea. Packers HC Matt LaFleur was quick to take the side of his star at the NFL Annual Meeting.

The HC said, “He’s not an excuse maker. That’s not something he ever talked to me about.” That’s right. Last year, Love suffered an MCL Sprain in the season opener. But he returned and took the team into playoffs despite suffering some additional injuries, too. The QB started 15 games and had a 9-6 record with 268 of 425 passes made (63.1% completion rate) for 3,389 passing yards and 25 touchdowns, with 11 interceptions.
LaFleur revealed that the Packers QB did not need a knee procedure after the season. While he didn’t reveal the nature of the injury, that’s still a major positive update. RB Josh Jacobs had praised his QB in February and said, “Special, man. I don’t think people really know how good he is.”

However, the Packers would undoubtedly still like to chat with Jalen Milroe. There’s no harm in that. But the chances of them drafting the young talent are low. The Steelers are emerging as one of the top contenders. HC Mike Tomlin desperately needs a QB, while Aaron Rodgers refuses to commit.
