Simone Biles lit up the US Olympic Trials with her 12-foot jump. After the disappointment of the Tokyo Olympics, she will be going all in for glory in Paris. It is this story of stardom, struggle, and comeback that was captured perfectly by Powerade in an Instagram post featuring Biles. Biles’ message in the video hit home for athletes everywhere, including the one in the Mahomes family. And it’s not the NFL star.

Powerade, the official sports drink of the Paris Olympic Games 2024, teamed up with Biles for the “Pause is Power” ad campaign in April. The ad video features Biles preparing to practice her spot amid a backdrop of media commentary. She tunes out the noise and begins her routine during a slow-motion flip, she recaps what went down in Tokyo during the “twisties” episode before saying, “That’s why I took a pause.”

Now after the gymnast ensured qualification for the Paris Olympics, Powerade uploaded a segment from the video on their Instagram page, Biles can be heard saying “One moment you’re on top of the world, and then next you find yourself gasping for air. I had to relearn to trust myself. I still have to dig deep down and remember why I’m doing it.”

This hit home with Zoe Mahomes, the Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes‘ soccer-star half-sister. Zoe re-shared the reel on her IG story with a simple “Wow!!! The message,” caption. In the video, Biles also reminds herself that she has to “do it for the little girl.” The gymnast’s words echoed with the 9-year-old Zoe. And why not? After all, Biles is an icon for girls all around the world. 

Biles is only the sixth woman to hold both Olympic and World all-around titles at the same time, a feat last seen in 1996. Her comeback is legendary. Taking a break from gymnastics in 2020 due to mental health reasons, she came back stronger, snagging gold last year at the World Championships. 

This year she has been dominating the field again. She captured the all-around title at the Core Hydration Classic in May and followed it up with a record-extending ninth U.S. all-around at the Xfinity Championships in June. Then, on June 30 at the Olympic Trials, Biles left everyone stunned with a remarkable display of athleticism.

During her floor routine, she leaped a staggering 12 feet into the air as she qualified for her third Olympics. Biles finished with five points ahead of the rest of the field with a two-day all-around score of 117.225.

While Zoe Mahomes has a keen interest in soccer, she recently emulated her brother on the football field.

The commanding presence she displayed on the field was something Patrick Mahomes would be proud of. Apart from this, Zoe has also excelled as a soccer player.
