Patrick Mahomes Jr. remains silent on his father’s troubles. The NFL star’s father, Patrick Mahomes Sr. appeared before the court on June 20 concerning his arrest in February 2024. After an independent examination of Mahomes Sr’s blood, the court ruled that his 0.23 BAC was much higher than the legally acceptable 0.8 BAC in Texas. The former MLB legend has a plea deal that may result in up to 10 years of probation on top of the initial $10,000 fine. Amid so much drama in his personal life, the Chiefs‘ QB is mesmerized by an NLB legend.

On June 20, Bob Kendrick narrated a fun story about baseball legends, Satchel Paige and Willie Mays during the St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Francisco Giants broadcast on ESPN. Kendrick recited the famous story of Satchel Paige striking out Willie Mays with three pitches and asking him to “sit down.” For those who are wondering, Kendrick is the president of Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. After NLBM went bankrupt, The 62-year-old played a big role in the museum’s reopening in June 2020.

Patrick Mahomes tagged the NLBM President after the broadcast and wrote, “@nlbmprez Is the best!!” in his Instagram stories. While Mahomes did not pursue baseball and dropped out of the sport in 20216, he remained a big fan of MLB.

The 28-year-old is an avid follower of the Texas Rangers and in October 2023, he gave a shout out to the Rangers batter Adolis Garcia for his home run and wrote, “Wild” on X. While the Chiefs’ No. 15 is enjoying some ballgame content, he is yet to address the ongoing legal matter regarding his father.

Patrick Mahomes Jr. keeps his family matters private

Patrick Mahomes Sr. has had a troubled history with the law. The 53-year-old has been arrested 3-time due to DUI offences previously in 2008, 2018, and 2024. He was also charged with public intoxication during a 2016 game between Texas Tech and TCU. However, Patrick Mahomes Jr. does not like addressing such sensitive matters publicly. In March 2019, the three-time Super Bowl winner called his father’s arrest a “family matter” and said, “I’ll keep it to the family.”

While Mahomes Sr. celebrated his son’s Super Bowl LVIII win from the stands, the latter did not wish him on Father’s Day this year. Though the QB’s silence on his father’s troubles may seem odd to some, Pat Mahomes took a similar stance on his brother’s 2023 arrest. The Chiefs’ mainstay simply labeled Jackson Mahomes’ run-in with the law as a “personal thing.”

Mahomes Sr. will reappear before the court in Texas on July 22. According to a report from KLTV, the district attorney is apparently ready to negotiate a lower probation period. Mahomes Jr. is currently enjoying a month-long vacation in Portugal with his family before the preseason training camp in July. Will the QB issue a statement on his father’s legal procedures upon his return from holidays? Only time will tell.
