“It’s always going to be a worry for any girl that’s dating an NFL boyfriend. But you just have to know that [the girls] are there for that only and so you just can’t let it get to you.” That’s what then-Patrick Mahomes’ girlfriend, Brittany Mahomes, said when she was slammed for only being an NFL QB’s wife. Since then, the negative comments have continued for her. But imagine how she and others who face such slams occasionally feel? 

Broken? Sad? Well, there are a lot of feelings that a person can go through! As for Brittany Mahomes, she recently revealed her feelings of pain with her fans. A recent Instagram story shared by Mrs. Mahomes on July 31, 2024, reads: “Someone said this to me & it hit me hard: If you know how difficult and long it took some people to recover their peace of mind and happiness, you’ll understand why they shut all doors at any potential negativity and also why they can be so selective about who they allow in their lives.” The post was originally shared by an IG account named “Morphxeus.”

This quote resonated with Brittany. And well, as we know, she is one of those NFL entities who has faced uncountable challenges and negativity in the past and even continues till today. But being a person, it’s natural for anyone to sometimes have enough of all these! For Brittany too, when she was enjoying her husband and Kansas City Chiefs’ 2023 Super Bowl victory, she liked a post giving a thumbs up for it.

That tweet reads: “If a stranger’s mere existence disrupts your peace sooooo much that you feel obligated to leave hateful messages on their profile, log T* out and GO TO THERAPY. You’re weird.” That was reportedly a direct hit to all her haters who commented on her hair, attire, activities, and overall existence!

But do you know that the constant nasty comments on her impacted Brittany’s life to what extent? Well, she even had to change her number!

The frustration of Brittany Mahomes!

This story is of 2021 when Brittany Mahomes and a Chiefs fan landed into a dispute over a loss. In October of that year, the Chiefs lost to the Bills 38-20, and eventually, Brittany was frustrated over the refs’ decisions at the game. She immediately took to Twitter (now X) to vent her frustration. “Refs are never in our favor. Ever.” That was a pretty obvious vent out which is expected from any Chiefs’ fan. However, this didn’t suit other Chiefs’ faithful. And as a reply to Mahomes’ comments, the fan wrote: “Girl. I need you to stop. This was my team long before Patrick was here. It’s not giving the org a good look. Chiefs are bigger than you, me, or any one player.”

Perhaps this reply wasn’t appreciated by Mahomes, and soon she hit back with her most viral statement, “In the nicest way possible… Shut up” with a smiling emoji. And then what? That became a controversy, and soon many started publicly hating her on her Instagram account. Many even trolled her saying, “She doesn’t have a career” because of her NFL WAG status. This continuous hatred towards Brittany resulted in her mental breakdown, and she said, “I had to change my phone number because people were texting me and harassing me and saying all these mean hateful things to me. [But] It’s hard because I have feelings just like they do. When they say stuff like I am ugly and Patrick could do better than me, they have no earthly idea what they are saying.”

However, now with time, Patrick Mahomes’ wife has learned how to handle such hate and negativity in public. She is now a strong woman in the NFL world!
