Under Robert Saleh, Jets LB Haason Reddick was a forgotten man as he remained on contractual holdout for more than six months. However, on Sunday, that changed as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that edge rusher Haason Reddick has agreed to an adjusted contract. This came as a shock, considering the long-drawn saga he was involved in with the Jets. Although many in New York would be surprised by this news hitting on their phones. Jets CB Sauce Gardner had a hilarious response that summed up his return to training in green and white.
Sharing an Instagram story of NFL that said Reddick has agreed to a reworked, short-term contract, he captioned it with, “I just watched a fantasy owner drop down to the ground in Walmart.” Well, seeing him refer to fantasy owners, they might be more shocked than others, as Reddick’s involvement could hamper their fantasy points.
However, those who didn’t have Reddick on their team can breathe a sigh of relief as he might not play this Sunday. As reports coming out from Jets camp show, he will join his teammates for training on Monday. His initial three-year $45 million contract, which he signed with the Eagles back in 2022, was supposed to make him a non-guaranteed $14.25 million this year. But he didn’t want to stay on those unguaranteed wages, which eventually led to the Eagles trading him to the Jets.

Although the Jets did offer him a long-term deal, Reddick wanted something close to the deals other pass rushers were getting in the NFL. This got him in a contractual holdout that lasted till Sunday. Agreeing to a reworked contract, Haason will receive approximately $9 million, including incentives that can help him cover the $12 million he lost in fines. You might be wondering how Reddick’s contractual holdout suddenly came to an end. Well, it’s Jets owner Woody Johnson who was heavily involved in bringing the Jets LB back after sacking Robert Saleh mid-season.
Even though that decision hasn’t really brought an instant change in the Jets’ fortunes this season. Jets CB Sauce Gardner did express his disappointment with Saleh’s sacking.

At the time of the Jets pulling the plug on Robert Saleh, he led the Jets to only 2 wins through 5 games. This wasn’t what the Jets had planned in a do-or-die season where they haven’t qualified for the playoffs in 13 years. Ending his reign as Jets coach, Saleh left the hot seat in New York with a record of 20-36. Although the Jets fans wouldn’t be looking back on his time in New York, Sauce Gardner was emotional on his sacking, “If I’m being honest. We’re doing it for him still.”
Well, this wasn’t the only message Gardner shared after Saleh mistimed exit from New York. As the Jets CB said, he “changed my life,” considering he was the only coach Gardner has played under in the NFL. It was Saleh who picked him as No.4 overall in the 2022 NFL draft, for which he texts Saleh “I appreciate you” messages every year on his birthday.

Gardner has taken the NFL by storm as he led the ranks with 20 passes defended in his first season as a rookie. He even won the Defensive Rookie of the Year alongside two Pro Bowler nodes over the two seasons he played under Saleh. So, seeing him react this way to his getting fired isn’t surprising to many.
