Before there was Travis Kelce, there was Shannon Sharpe. But he rode off into the sunset in 2003. He may have retired from playing football, but he is a celebrity and even has his own podcast, Club Shay Shay, and is an analyst on ESPN’s First Take. With his busy schedule and an active social media life, the 3x SB Champion rarely finds time to attend NFL games.
On the other hand, Taylor Swift, the $740 million singer-songwriter, who is on break from her Eras Tour has attended every Chiefs home game so far since her first Arrowhead appearance on September 24. Has she already managed to beat one of the greats of football in attendance stats?

Taking to X for his usual banter with fans and followers, he replied, “Prob within next 3-5 gms”. What was this in response to? He was implying that Shannon Sharpe has been attending so few games lately that Taylor Swift, even after being a newcomer, might surpass his attendance record. Taylor Swift has attended four of the Chiefs’ five winning games. Three of them were home games and one at MetLife Stadium, where she attended with superheroes Deadpool and Wolverine.

But there could be another angle to this entire exchange. @PFF had shared a graphic that said that Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift’s rumored beau, has entered the elite club of TEs with a special record. Shannon Sharpe is one of the greatest TEs of all time. And holds the record for the number of receptions, receiving yards, and receiving TDs. He also is enshrined as the first TE ever to amass over 10,000 receiving yards.
So, what is this special club that Kelce has joined? And will he break Sharpe’s record and zoom past him with many more games on the schedule this season?
Travis Kelce inching closer to overtaking Shannon Sharpe’s record
@PFF shared that Kelce was just one game away from matching Sharpe’s record of 6 career games with 150+ receiving yards in a game. Sharpe expressed his admiration at the statistic and said that in the next 3-5 games, Kelce would surely beat his record. Sharpe is a sportsman without an equal. Instead of feeling threatened or insecure, he is happy that the next-gen of TEs is beating his records.

In the game against the Chargers, he registered 179 receiving yards. In the upcoming Sunday Night Football, the Chiefs will face off against Sharpe’s former team, the Denver Broncos. Will Kelce write history by matching Sharpe’s record in a match against his own former team? Or will we have to wait for a few more games till the inevitable happens?
