CJ Stroud shook the NFL community when he named his top 5 QB list for last season. He went on the Caps Off podcast and rated Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, himself, Dak Prescott, and Jalen Hurts as the top 5. The hosts present in the room were a bit shocked about Stroud’s point of view. They were more concerned as to why Dak Prescott was on the 4 spot on his list and why Joe Burrow wasn’t even on the list.

What people fail to realize is that this list is subjective. It’s just that the Texans QB list was hard to swallow for a lot of people. While Mahomes and Lamar Jackson would unequivocally be on the top spot, Shannon Sharpe was confused as to why Josh Allen and Jordan Love weren’t on the list.

Giving in to subjectivity, Ocho had his own list in mind and felt like Joe Burrow should have been at the second or at least the third position. Johnson’s assessment shocked Shannon Sharpe and he thought Jordan Love or Josh Allen should have been on the. The former Bengals receiver asked the former TE to name his top 5. As the common narrative goes, Dak Prescott isn’t on Shannon Sharpe’s list. “Aye, Dak or Jalen Hurts aint going over Jordan Love for me, or Josh Allen, based on last year,” said Sharpe in an assertive tone.

“Me, I would take Mahomes, Lamar, I would take CJ Stroud, I would take Jordan Love and I would take….” Said Shannon Sharpe as he took a long pause after naming 4 QBs and was in two minds before he decided. After careful consideration, he pegged Josh Allen to take the 5 position and he had his reasons behind it.

It’s fair to mention that CJ Stroud put himself in a modest position because not a lot of quarterbacks have a 4,000-plus-yard season, let alone take their teams to a playoff in their rookie year. We should give Stroud flowers for another reason: he started 5 consecutive games without throwing any interceptions, which no one has done since 1950.

CJ Stroud became the Offensive Rookie of the Year in the 2023 season. His playoff debut performance added to it because in the game against the Browns, Stroud had 274 yards and he threw 236 of them in the first half, a record that Dak Prescott held previously. But coming back to Josh Allen, Unc made a case as to why the Buffalo Bills star deserved to be on the list. “I would take Josh Allen for the simple fact; he’s going to throw 30 touchdowns and he’s going to run for another 12. Or he’s going to throw 35 touchdowns and he’s going to run for 12,” said Sharpe while siding with Allen.

Also, to everyone’s surprise, CJ Stroud revised his list as well after much consideration.

Shannon Sharpe banks on Josh Allen to be in the 5 position judging by his performance in the last year. Allen came up with 4,306 passing yards and 29 touchdowns while getting intercepted 18 times in the season. But these are just the passing stats. Josh Allen capitalizes on his run game when his gun-slinging arms are not suitable for a particular play. He also had 524 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns in the 2023 season.

However, the fact that Dak Prescott led the league with 36 passing touchdowns is often ignored because of his lack of playoff success. But it looked like CJ Stroud succumbed to the pressure of people’s opinion because he revised his list. Though Joe Burrow is not on the list, Stroud did mention that he modelled his game after Joe Burrow on a couple of occasions on the field.

Stroud took to IG and posted his updated list on his stories; this time, his list had Mahomes on top, followed by Lamar Jackson, while Stroud placed himself third. He then added Josh Allen and moved Dak Prescott to the 5 position., removing Jalen Hurts from the list.
