The Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice racked up 8 felony charges and a hefty amount to pay to the victims after the car crash on the Dallas highway. Fortunately, no lives were lost, and Rice is slowly getting to grips with his football career once again. Lucky to have survived the incident, the Super Bowl-winning WR is attending Chiefs OTAs now and finally made a statement.

“I’ve learned so much from that,” he said. “All I can do is mature and continue to grow from that. This is a step in a better direction for me.” The WR also added later, “Accidents and stuff like that happen, but all you can do is move forward and walk around being the same person, try to be positive so that everybody can feel your love and your great energy.”

Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson got word of his latest presser and had a few things to say about his comeback after trying times. Per Sharpe, Rice has to be focused on football and staying grounded for the times to come, and more importantly, choose a better company to be around. Sharpe picked up on his comment about “being the same person” and advised him to change himself.

“Nah, don’t be that same person, Rashee. You can’t say that you want to mature and grow and be the same person,” said Sharpe and questioned the wideout by adding, “How he say he want to be the same person?” Chad Johnson had some constructive criticism to offer to Rashee Rice.

“You want to be a better person than you were before, and your decision-making has to be better. And obviously the people that you hang around, when you’re not making the right decisions, you have to have a fallback guy that can make the right decisions for me [Rice],” added Johnson.

Speaking of having the right people around Rashee Rice, Patrick Mahomes has taken it upon himself to make sure that the 24-year-old stays on the right path.

After a long time, Mahomes acknowledged what went down about 2 weeks ago and recognized that everyone makes mistakes at some point in their lives. Though Rice’s mistake was a costly one that might lead him to cough up as high as $10 million for the people he’s injured, Rice would be grateful to be allowed to step foot in the arena again.

“It’s not just me. [We’re all] just trying to do whatever we can to teach him how to learn from his mistakes,” Mahomes two weeks ago. “Obviously, that was a big mistake. You get to learn from it and make sure it doesn’t happen again and try to do whatever you can to be the best person you can be in society, not only for yourself but for the people around you. I think he is doing that.”

The QB further went on to say, “Right now, we’re just going to keep trying to do whatever we can to get him on the right path, so that he can be a great football player, obviously, but we want to be a great person, too.” Though Rice has the full support of everyone around him, there is a high possibility that he might be missing out on a couple of games at the start of the season because the NFL is also investigating the case for “league’s personal conduct policy.”

Rice’s Lamborghini Urus was well about 119 mph moments before he was about to crash. It’s really a miracle that no one lost their lives in the incident. Taking the lesson from the experience, all Rice can do now is stride forward with a better mindset and outlook on and off the field.
