The San Francisco 49ers’ running back McCaffrey has tied the Miami Dolphins’ Raheem Mostert in the touchdown race this season with 20 TDs. With this record, Coach Prime Deion Sanders, too, feels McCaffrey has been great this season.
The Niners won against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15 with a score of 45-29, bringing their season record to 11-3. Well, Deion Sanders thinks so. On Sunday’s episode of the Nightcap podcast, Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson were joined by Colorado head football coach Sanders. Discussing the slate of Week 15, the trio highlighted the Niners’ latest win over the Cardinals, with special attention given to the unstoppable Christian McCaffrey.
Sharpe mentioned that their solid running games and Christian McCaffrey stand out when evaluating the team’s performance. Sanders said, “McCaffrey could be the MVP as well.” Supporting this, Sharpe acknowledged McCaffrey’s leading position in the touchdown race with a total of 20 touchdowns. Additionally, the 27-year-old is topping the charts for running backs with the highest rushing yards (1,177). Sanders also expressed his affection for McCaffrey and his family.
Meanwhile, the Niners clinched their division title, and a significant portion of the credit goes to McCaffrey, who delivered his best and historic performances back-to-back, including “six 100-yard rushing games, the most of any player in the NFL.”
Even QB Brock Purdy recognizes McCaffrey’s value, naming him his MVP choice.

He does everything for us… and so, in my eyes, that’s an MVP.” Choosing McCaffrey as his next favorite MVP by Purdy is an excellent choice. When we count the total number of touchdowns in the Cardinals’ game this season, McCaffrey has gained seven touchdowns.
Furthermore, he rushed for 364 yards from scrimmage. Besides that, McCaffrey has 20 total touchdowns, tying with Phins’ Raheem Mostert in the TD race this season. Additionally, no NFL player in the Super Bowl era has scored more than his 7 touchdowns against a single team.
