The Chiefs lost their sixth match of the season against the Raiders on week 16. Once again, the defending champions’ glaring flaws came out despite Patrick Mahomes giving it his all. In between everything, a particular moment from TE Travis Kelce’s caught everyone’s attention.

Discussing the game, former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe ripped the team apart, questioning their consistency. He criticized the Chiefs’s offense and didn’t even exempt Mahomes. Then he was critical of Travis Kelce for failing catches and insisted he was bugged.

Talking to ESPN’s Jeff Saturday, Sharpe said even Kelce had responsibilities for the team’s loss. “Even Travis Kelce has all of a sudden gotten bit by the drop bug. He dropped the play early in the ball game”, Sharpe pointed put the moment when the TE missed a catch in the first half.

“He’s trying to catch it with one hand and all he has to do is put both hands up, catch it, and turn up to the sideline. And he’s probably going to get a first down”, the former TE said Kelce could easily avoid the mishaps by catching the ball with both hands. But these simple mistakes are costing the team potential touchdowns.

But Sharpe particularly blasted the Chiefs offensive line and cleared a bitter truth even Patrick Mahomes was trying to hide.

Sharpe straight up said that Mahomes was taking unnecessary risks keeping the ball in his hand for extra time, “he hasn’t played well by his standards and he’s starting to take unnecessary risks”. But Sharpe also insisted it wasn’t his fault entirely. “You already look good, why do you need to add all this makeup? Because you’re trying to hide flaws that you know you have”, Sharpe accused the QB of doing extra work mostly ending on negative terms for the team.

“But you don’t think other people can see. They can see your offensive line isn’t very good, they can see your receiving corner isn’t very good”, the former TE shared the bitter truth with Saturday, saying the QB’s efforts were going in vain. He particularly pointed out the team’s long-standing issues with their receivers or the offensive line in general. Which has let them down repeatedly in the season.

Sharpe’s words can’t change the fortune of the defending champions, but they can warn the side of what’s next to come if they weren’t already aware. But will the Chiefs be able to cover up the patches with only one game left in the regular season? At this moment, no one can tell that. Not even Mahomes himself.
