Is Tyreek Hill still a Chief at heart despite playing for the Dolphins? What do you think?

I just wanted a realistic position for me and my family.” Tyreek Hill was looking for a contract that could satisfy his demands of around 25-26 million dollars annually. But as we know it, the Kansas City Chiefs were unable to match his financial expectations, so the Cheetah left the team to join the Miami Dolphins. However, now Cheetah seems to have ignored that breakup with KC as he declared himself a “Chief.

In a recent episode of the Up & Adams show on August 12, 2024, Hill joined the host Kay Adams to talk about Miami and his previous team. During the interview, when Adams asked what his relationship with the Chiefs Kingdom was, Hill responded without any hesitation: “I love them. I love those guys, I love Pat [Patrick Mahomes], I love [Travis] Kelce, I love Chris Jones, I love Coach [Andy] Reid, I love all those guys…..Without them I wouldn’t be in the position I am now….the ride was amazing but I’m here now. I’m the big CHIEF in SOUTH BEACH.

Despite leaving KC in 2022, Hill believes he is still a “big Chief” – a remark he made earlier in June as well while recalling his time with the Red Army. But wait! There’s more to this story. Hill doesn’t only believe he is the big Chief but he also thinks he is better than the team’s QB Mahomes!

During the same episode, when asked if he thinks he is a better football player than Mahomes, Hill replied, “Yeah! For sure! For sure! I’m him.” The wide receiver also explained why he said this: “Pat is great… They won two back-to-back Super Bowls, they did their thing, right? Now you look at me. Two back-to-back 1,700 [-yard seasons], Pro Bowl, All-Pro… And I’m doing this at 5’8″… A lot of people said I couldn’t be a receiver, and here I am doing this.

He could be right in his perspective, but saying you are better than a 3x Super Bowl Champion with 2× NFL Most Valuable Player and considered among the NFL greats is a bold stance. The reason behind such confidence could be the recent Top 100 NFL Players List. One, that gave Hill the top berth and Mahomes the fourth place. Despite this fierce competition, the Cheetah believes that he has a great relationship with the 28-year-old QB and that he has learned a lot from the Chiefs Army, talk about mixed signals!

When Tyreek Hill left the Chiefs in 2022, it sent shockwaves through the NFL. After his six unforgettable years with KC and a Super Bowl win, Hill was traded to the Dolphins, leaving behind a deep bond with his teammates, especially quarterback Patrick Mahomes. In an episode of “Cold As Balls” with Kevin Hart, recorded before his trade, Hill opened up about his close relationship with Mahomes, calling him a brother and someone he could always rely on.

Additionally, he spoke about the trust they shared, both on and off the field, and how their connection was more than just football. Cheetah expressed, “I can always look at him as a brother. No matter what, I know I can always call him and count on him for anything. Whoever Pat (Mahomes) wants to get the ball to, I’m down for it. I’m just here for the team.”

Hill also gave a nod to his former coaches, Andy Reid and Eric Bieniemy. Acknowledging how grateful he was to them for always finding ways to help him succeed, even when defenses were stacked against him, the WR said, “They spend countless hours drawing up plays for myself, you know, being able to get the ball.”

Hill has been exceptional during his time with the Phins and he carried on to give this credit to his Chiefs unit. He said, “Without them I wouldn’t be in the position I am now.” Yet, the 30-year-old embraced his new role with the Dolphins, boldly declaring himself “the Big Chief in South Beach.”
