Is Sean Payton's no-nonsense approach exactly what the Broncos need to turn their season around?

The second week of the NFL regular season is here already and the Denver Broncos are preparing to face another fierce opponent. On Sunday, the 15h, the Broncos will go up against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Given the stats of their week one game, it doesn’t seem like Sean Payton and his team will have much luck this weekend.

Despite the odds, they are preparing the best they can. In a recent interview, Broncos Head Coach revealed his thought process and training routine for the team before heading into the next regular season game. And quite frankly, Payton isn’t thinking that much about Russell Wilson.

The Steelers won with a score of 18-10 in their season opener while the Broncos lost 26-20 to the Seattle Seahawks. This puts them at a supposed disadvantage against Pittsburgh because the former seems to be in form this season. Russell Wilson could make a comeback in the next game, helping the Steelers even more, but this doesn’t scare Payton.

We’re not playing tennis or golf. We’re playing a team game, and we’re focused on the Steelers. They’re a good football team, said the Head Coach for the Denver team while mentioning that he is not training against just one quarterback, but the entire team.

The Head Coach has worked with Wilson before, when the latter was a part of the Broncos. His fate eventually brought him to the Steelers. But does this mean that Payton knows his every move? Well, he denies it. And realistically speaking, he needs to tackle Justin Fields first because Russell Wilson has fewer chances to be on the gridiron than Fields.

Not Russell Wilson but Fields might prove to be a problem

As of now, there are no updates regarding Wilson’s return to the season games. Although he seems to be getting better, the weekend game is almost here, and it looks like the only big quarterback issue at hand for Denver is Justin Fields. You would think that a 25-year-old quarterback isn’t that big of a threat, but the Steelers’ offense scoring 18 against their last opponents is a testimony to the fact that Justin has what it takes to be a leader on the gridiron under pressure. There is no confirming whether he will play just as well against the Broncos, but it seems Sean Payton is taking him seriously.

Have an interesting take?

In the same interview, the Denver Head Coach added, “I think you look at Fields last week, and then obviously you prepare for both. Both guys have different strengths. You have a plan for both, but certainly it starts with Fields.” He said this in response to whether the team will prepare for Justin or Russ. According to him, focusing on jersey number 2 is more important as the match approaches. Could this be the breakthrough that the Denver Broncos were looking for? Or will they lose yet another game this season?
