Coach Sean Payton of the Denver Broncos has been facing criticism over his latest move. He has benched star quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson, who joined the Broncos in 2022 with a substantial five-year, $242.6 million contract, finds himself sidelined. This happens as the team approaches its concluding games against the Los Angeles Chargers and the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Broncos currently have a 7-8 record. Rumors indicate that the Broncos’ management had pushed Wilson to relinquish his injury guarantees. Adding to the intrigue, Payton disclosed a subtle invitation to the television show “Hard Knocks” during a recent press conference. His comments suggesting this have been circulating on the internet, creating a stir.

During a recent press briefing, Payton was asked about coping with criticism following the benching of quarterback Russell Wilson. To this, the Broncos Coach responded candidly. He conveyed an understanding of the scrutiny that comes with his position. He stated, “I think it’s part of the deal and I understand it.”
Payton also mentioned his occasional inclination toward featuring in “Hard Knocks” to provide an inside look. He said, “I get it and but it’s the only thing that makes me, once in a while, want to do “Hard Knocks” because there’s a perception, and then you know that would be the only reason to get an insight.” He highlighted his ability to adapt and innovate in his coaching role.
He asserted, “You don’t do this this long if you’re not adjusting, funny, creative, all of those things, and I think I am all of those.” Payton has clarified that they will be benching Wilson. The QB playing instead of Wilson is Jarrett Stidham. It seems that Sean not only benched Wilson but is also pretty confident in Stidham’s abilities.
