Did Sean Payton overlook Bo Nix's struggles, or is a win all that matters in the NFL?

Week 7 ended for the Denver Broncos with a spectacular win, improving their standings to 4-3. They defeated the Saints with a massive 23 points win, taking the lead of the game from the start. Hence, it’s obvious for the coach Sean Payton to lose his emotion, who was constantly waiting for something like this (a huge gap win) to happen.

Therefore, while speaking about this October 17 game, Sean Payton admitted, via reporter Zac Stevens, “today was emotional and it was very cool to get the game ball after the Broncos win.” The head coach’s team crushed their opponent with 225 rushing yards, and this win was also special for the 61-year-old as with it, he has now defeated all 32 NFL teams in his coaching career.

But that’s not where the exciting story ends for Sean Payton! Facing his former team was always going to be emotional for the head coach, even if he tried to play it cool leading up to the game. Hence, this wasn’t just any matchup – it was actually a reunion with the club he led to a Super Bowl victory. And when the Broncos handed him the game ball afterward, you could feel the weight of that moment.

Choking back emotion in the locker room, Sean Payton addressed his players. “I appreciate every one of you. And the reason this was hard is we’re in session right now. And I tell you all the time, I’m not going to remember a lot of things when I get older, but I’m going to remember these moments.” Wow! That’s a pure emotional moment for the Broncos.

Besides that, later, in the press conference, he confessed how much the gesture meant for him, while admitting the day had been “kind of emotional.” So, all these moments can easily tell that this win from his team really mattered to him.

Indeed, it was a great game put up by the Broncos, but no one can deny the fact that the quarterback, Bo Nix actually struggled too.

What did Sean Payton say about Bo Nix’s struggling performance?

Have an interesting take?

Despite the win, Bo Nix was clearly sloppy at times during the game. For instance, he missed wide open WRs multiple times on the field, and got away with a dropped interception by the Saints’ Tyrann Mathieu before halftime. Although he was effective with his legs limiting the mistakes, one cannot deny that missing multiple targets could have cost the matchup for them.

Nevertheless, it seems, for Sean Payton, it’s all about the win at the end. Probably, that’s why instead of pointing out Bo Nix’s on-field struggles and issues, head coach Payton said that he did a “real good job” in the post-game press conference.

Nix finished 16-of-26 passing for 164 yards without any touchdown or interception. And at last the Broncos defeated the Saints 33-10 at the Caesars Superdome on Thursday Night Football.
