As Sean McVay stood on the sidelines of the Lincoln Financial Field, the snow during the fourth quarter between the Eagles and the Rams visibly made things difficult. But he had hope. Matthew Stafford was ready to cook up one of his signature comebacks. Rams fans have seen this script play out before—Stafford leading a last-minute game-winning drive against the Bucs in January 2022, which led to a 30-27 win—but this time, his Houdini act simply didn’t happen. The Eagles got away with a win and that left Stafford’s side dejected; Especially head coach Sean McVay.

McVay’s post-game reaction? Let’s just say it was raw and real. On the Travis & D’Marco Show, Rams legend D’Marco Farr spilled the tea, saying:

“I’ve never seen McVay break like that. I have seen McVay cry but that’s what he does. McVay cried well before he got to us, I have never seen McVay break like that. […] Talking to his team, telling them how proud he is, how hard they fought and then, that’s why I don’t know if listening to the broadcast, it took forever to get to him for the post-game.

“And I’m standing right there. I could see him. It just was a lot. And everything he said in the post-game press conference he was saying, in his mind it was 29-28, we are coming back to LA. “

This wasn’t just any loss—it was the kind that hits you in the gut, especially for a coach who lives and breathes his team’s success. But it wasn’t just Farr who empathized with the coach. Co-host Travis Rodgers admitted, “I thought so too.” The heartbreak was so real because they truly felt that they had it in their hands.

Rodgers further stated, “I think anybody who has watched this team over the last several years, especially since Matthew Stafford has been here, we have seen that movie. We know how that movie ends. And it ends with them scoring a touchdown and then winning the game. And you know they they got the ball back, it was two minutes to go, they needed a touchdown to win…”

This loss wasn’t just about the scores and records—it was about showing the fire McVay still had for his team. D’Marco Farr summed it up, saying he would “100 times out of 100” bet on Stafford in that situation. And that, my friend, is an epic response! But even the best teams and coaches hit walls, and McVay’s reaction still hurts. This wasn’t just a game for him; it was a reflection in the mirror of his passion and belief in his squad. If nothing else, it proved McVay’s still got that fire in him, even when the chips are down.

That being said, his QB’s future is now uncertain. What’s going to happen?

Matthew Stafford: Will the Rams QB come back next season?

There’s been a ton of chatter about Matthew Stafford’s future with the Rams, especially after an emotional end to the season and a cryptic Instagram post from his wife, Kelly Stafford, that had fans spiraling. “Aren’t enough words to express how proud I am. I joke about us being old and tired but honestly I could never get tired of watching you out there or watching our girls cheer for their daddy. I’m wondering if this is the end or not… guess we will find out,” she wrote on Instagram.

But Stafford? After the tough L to the Eagles, Stafford kept it real, saying, “I was really proud of this group all season and the way that we battled.” It doesn’t look like a QB who is about to walk away. But what did he say when he was asked specifically about retirement?

“It’s 30 minutes after the last game. I’ll take some time to think about it,” he stated.

With the Rams sitting on the 26th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, some thought this might be the moment for a new QB to step in. But it might depend on Stafford’s ultimate decision. The QB technically has two years left on his contract, but only $4 million of his salary is guaranteed in 2025. There is no guaranteed amount in 2026.

If he decides to continue playing with the Rams, the team will need to get him a new contract before March 15. What do you think?
