“I like the way this guy plays the game,” LA Rams HC Sean McVay said about one of his players after the first 2 games of the 2024 season. The player he referred to was the first-round pick (19th overall) last year, LB Jared Verse. He finished his first NFL season with 4.5 sacks, 2 defended passes, 18 QB Hits, and 66 tackles (36 solo). But the HC-LB got off to a rough start, credit to his habits from playing at the Florida State Seminoles. The coach had to reprimand his player about the culture of the franchise.
During the May 9 episode of The Rich Eisen Show, the linebacker described his first appearance with the team. While describing his first practice, the LB recalled, “I was going crazy, I was getting through the offense, getting the staffer, running backs, I was like stopping the edge, all that stuff. And the way I am, I want the whole field to know, so I’m loud, I’m screaming yada yada yada. Coach gave me a warning. Coach was like ‘hey, like we don’t do that here’.” That’s right!
Sean McVay is the binding force of the Rams. He calmly handled the situation about Matthew Stafford in early offseason when they announced the trade option for Cooper Kupp. But Verse was new to the system. He didn’t pay much attention and reverted back to the old ways. The linebacker kept going, forcing the coach to stop the practice again and tell him, “He stops the whole practice just got on me like ‘no we don’t do that here’.”

When he kept going, Sean McVay finally snapped, stopped him again and explained, “These (are) grown men. You can’t be talking to them like you talk to some 20-year-old. These grown men, these dudes got families, kids like you can’t be talking to them any sort of way.” It made him realize that he was in the league now, not in the college anymore.
The Rams HC even called him to the office later and told him to work out in a way that will help his teammates. It also helped him elevate his team to another level. Moving on from that, the Rams have brought in some exciting additions this offseason.
And the team is quite happy and excited about their new receiver, Davante Adams. They are ready to go-in, particularly after adding the receiver.

While the entire team sat down and nodded their heads in amazement as Adams’ tape played on screen, Sean McVay said, “Very excited to add him. More importantly, because of the person that he is, but he is also a cold g on the field, give it up for Davante Adams.” The video quickly went viral, pumping up the fans.

With such weapons in the receiving department now, the franchise is ready to go for the Super Bowl. With 103 touchdowns in 11 seasons, he has all the experience required. The HC is focused on team-building at this time, showing the right approach.
