The wildfires in Los Angeles have caused chaos and destroyed multiple structures since Tuesday. They have even forced tens of thousands of people, including many celebrities, to evacuate their homes. And joining that unfortunate list of victims is none other than the Los Angeles Rams coach, Sean McVay.
Yes, you heard it right! As the world was worried about thier close ones in LA, McVay was concerned about his family too, ahead of the Rams’s crunch game against the Vikings. So, what happened to his family? Well, according to Mike Florio’s ProFootballTalk, “Sean McVay and his family evacuated their home due to the wildfires.” At that time, McVay was reportedly in the facility.
Hence, while explaining his situation on Friday, the coach said, “Here’s what it’s like. As soon as I knew that my wife and little boy were good — you don’t ever want that to happen, but if it did, those things can be replaced. Fortunately, they got those things under control, but as soon as I got off the practice field and because of where they were, I saw them right away. That was all I needed.”

Sean McVay’s family (wife Veronica and son Jordan) were reportedly unharmed as they were evacuated from their Hidden Hills home on Thursday. And seeing the family safe is a biggest sigh of relief. For McVay too, it was! But the coach closely saw the real fear as he stated, “It felt a lot more real — I don’t want to say that because you don’t want to minimize how important and how many people were affected, but when you can start to see it physically as the smoke rose up yesterday, there was a lot of guys that live in proximity and that hits home in a different way. As soon as I knew Veronica and Jordan were good, I was good as well.”
Now that the coach’s family is safe, he has another challenge coming on his way. Amidst this chaos, Sean McVay and his Rams still have a playoff game to prepare for. For this, they are heading to Arizona to face the Vikings on Monday night.
Sean McVay revealed the team’s status amidst fire threat!
After his family took a desperate measure to deal with the situation, Sean McVay explained how the team is handling everything. He said that they first addressed the personal side, making sure that everything was okay. Then they shifted their focus to the game. It was done so, because McVay believes the first priority here should be the family, so that the players are unbroken from within. And one major credit for this also goes to NFL, as they took a major decision which even McVay is proud of.

In the same presser, Sean McVay praised the decision of the NFL for shifting the Vikings-Rams game from LA to Arizona. Earlier this January 13 game was scheduled to kick off from SoFi Stadium. But now seeing the safety of the players and fans, the league has shifted the location to State Farm Stadium at Arizona. Hence, the Rams’s coach believes that the league did the right thing to move the game. But that’s not just a good thing that happened.
During this tough time, another NFL team came up to support the Rams. Yes! Sean McVay didn’t forget to mention that too while speaking to the reporters. He thanked the Cardinals for giving the Rams the space in their facility for practice for playoffs. But as the shift has been done, how the players are adjusting to it?
Well, Sean McVay revealed the players did a great job after their shift, as he praised, “What a unique circumstance, what a unique situation, but I do believe that this group has handled it as well as you could. Fortunately, nobody’s been injured in the process of everything that’s gone on.” Now that everything is fine with the Rams, it remains to be seen how the team comes up in the playoffs. Will they win this one and move forward or they lose thier wildcard this time?
