The Buffalo Bills gained no. 2 seed this season. So now, they are slated to play against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, January 12, 2025. However, before that thriller, coach Sean McDermott appeared in front of the media to reveal his next game plan.

Although the Bills have appeared in four Super Bowls (XXV, XXVI, XXVII, and XXVIII), they have yet to win the trophy. This 2024 season could be theirs, as they made it into the playoffs for the sixth time. But before that, Sean McDermott’s team has multiple challenges ahead. The first starts on Sunday against the Broncos, and the head coach admitted that his team has learned in these past few years.

Sean McDermott said, “I think there’s very few teams that go on a very clean straight line in terms of their path to their goal. So most of the time, there’s a journey of some ups and downs and some learning as you go through things and dealing with some adversity. So, no different for us in that way. We learn from it, we embrace it and we try to keep things as consistent as possible.” Hence, McDermott and his Bills will use all this learning against the Broncos in the wild-card round.

But that’s not all he has planned! Sean McDermott noted that each year and team are different, taking on their own identity. He acknowledged the Broncos as a formidable opponent – highlighting their Super Bowl-winning coach, talented players, and strong performance in all phases of the game. Not only that! The HC even praised their defense, led by Vance Joseph, and their ability to control the ball and limit turnovers. So, as he knows who is coming up next, McDermott has his plans ready.

But what is it? Well, revealing his plans, Sean McDermott explained, “We’ve got to make sure that we’ve got everything buttoned up, the details we need in order to execute at the level we’re going to need to execute at. And then we gotta take it one play at a time and take what they give us at the same time, because it’s a heck of a challenge.” So, as per the Bills’ coach, consistency and proper execution with a one-at-a-time approach can help them overcome Sunday’s battle. But before that, some things in the locker room need to be paid attention to.

Sean McDermott reveals the injury status of the Bills!

The Buffalo Bills came out of Week 18 with fortunately just one injury. The returner/corner Brandon Codrington is listed on the injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. Although Sean McDermott informed the media after the Week 18 game that more information on Codrington is about to come, the fact that almost the entire team is healthy gave him a sense of hope in the playoffs. That time the coach even did a superstitious ritual in public to make sure that the team remained healthy throughout the postseason. Now, during this new press conference, McDermott revealed the status of other players as well.

He informed the media that Ja’Marcus Ingram will not be there at practice as “he’s excused for a personal family situation.” In addition, Codrington will also continue to remain out of practice due to his hamstring issue. About him, the coach quipped, “(Codrington’s) been our primary return guy all year. We’ll deal with it, one way or the other. If he can go, great. If he can’t, we’ll figure something out.” The reason behind McDermott saying this is, Codrington has indeed been a star player, whose 313 punt return yards on 27 attempts are the fourth-most in the NFL. Hence, he would be a major miss if he remains absent against the Broncos.

Nevertheless, besides him, wide receiver Amari Cooper has rejoined the Bills after his four-day absence from the team due to a family matter. Cooper has been a five-time Pro Bowl wideout. Hence, his presence will surely matter for the team.
