Let bygones be bygones. Maybe that’s the motto Sean McDermott is leaning on after their heartbreaking AFC Championship defeat to the Chiefs. That game could have gone either way if not for certain controversial calls that, yet again, went in the favor of the Chiefs. However, it seems Sean McDermott has had enough disappointments this season. And the only thing he is focused on right now is building upon what could have been a special season for the Bills.

See, this is a Bills team that had just won its fifth consecutive AFC East title. Then, it went on to secure a convincing 31-7 victory over the Broncos and a 27-25 nail-biter over the Ravens in the playoffs. However, it was the Chiefs, yet again, who stopped the Bills on their tracks to the Super Bowl for the second time under the McDermott era. But the Bills head coach believes it is not the time to think where it all went wrong. Instead, they should focus on the road ahead, “We’re very aware of where we are, place and time. It doesn’t mean we start there next year, but we’re very comfortable with our process and methodology.”

Well, it’s to say the Bills had a sensational season on the offense. They became the first team in NFL history to score 30 TDs on the air and 30 TDs on the ground. This offense functioned all season with an average of 30.88 points per game. Now, it isn’t the offense that almost propelled the Bills to a Super Bowl. Their defense equally stepped up with 32 turnovers this season.

So, considering all the positives they had garnered all season. CB Taron Johnson thinks it won’t take much for the Bills to come back strongly next season, “We could get right back here. We have the ability to get to the Super Bowl.” But the thing is if they are really serious about returning to the grandest stage of all football, they need to step up against the likes of the Chiefs. Otherwise, it would just be yet another year of sinking feeling after doing almost everything right throughout the season.

As they try to prepare for next season, it seems there is some early good news for the Bills. Their QB, Josh Allen, has potentially avoided a broken hand after the Chiefs game.

Josh Allen survives a major injury scare after Bills’ heartbreak

Allen wasn’t just emotional talking about how he felt after the Chiefs’ loss. He also gave some news that may have sent shockwaves to Buffalo, “I got a little banged up, hand right, a wrist. So I gotta talk with docs right now and figure it out. But we’ll see.” It seems Allen may have suffered an injury late into the 2nd quarter when the Bills were still kinda in the game, 21-16.

Can the Bills turn their AFC Championship heartbreak into a Super Bowl triumph next season?

“It was just right at the goal line, the two-point play before halftime. Got crunched up a little bit. I was able to finish the game. But just some swelling and stuff today,” as per Allen. That 2-point conversation Allen is talking about ultimately failed after Mack Hollins had just scored a 34-yard TD.

But the good news is that Josh Allen has not suffered a broken hand, as many may have feared, as per their GM Brandon Beane. He will probably just be fine before the next season comes along. Because the Bills QB has made 117 consecutive starts for Buffalo. And this shows he isn’t letting those bruises or broken hand scares conquer his path to the gridiron.
