In a move to bolster their coaching staff, the Seattle Seahawks are set to bring aboard Josh Bynes as a defensive assistant for the upcoming 2024 season. Bynes, who announced his retirement from playing in December 2022, opted for a coaching role after exploring opportunities with the Ravens and Chargers for linebacker coach positions.

He does not have prior coaching experience, but the 34-year-old Bynes brings with him a wealth of knowledge from his extensive playing career as an MVP of the defense. His familiarity with Mike Macdonald’s defensive scheme should facilitate a smooth transition to the sidelines. Bynes will work alongside LB coach Kirk Olivadotti. He boasts 13 years of NFL coaching experience and will provide valuable mentorship to the new addition.
