The NFL has yet to witness a father-and-son duo play together in its hundred-year history. Although there aren’t many instances of players getting paired up with their old man, Geno Smith, the Seahawks QB, has a dream of his own. Still only 34, Smith has plenty of years ahead of him if he continues to stay healthy.
And this might have prompted him to share a dream of his on the Up & Adams show. Talking about his cousin, Buckeyes receiver Jeremiah Smith, the Seahawks QB was asked to express his thoughts on the NCAA star, “It’s like watching my own son play out there. You’re one of the best in the world. You’re gonna be one of the best EVER.” Although Geno Smith and Jeremiah Smith are cousins, the 34-year-old addresses him as his son, thereby showcasing his love for the Ohio State freshman.

On hearing those words, Up & Adams talk show host Kay Adams throws in the comparison of Bronny and LeBron James. For the history they made this month. LeBron and Bronny officially became the first father-and-son duo to play in NBA’s history. It came during the Lakers’ season opener, taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves. While LeBron was already starting, he had to wait until the second quarter to make his dream come true.
Entering the court to a thunderous ovation, LeBron gave some fatherly advice to Bronny before he made his debut, “You ready? Just play care free..go out and play hard.” Well, the elder James finished his night with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists. While the younger had only one rebound for three minutes of action.
Although the Lakers did manage to win their season-opener by 110-103, Bronny and LeBron were over the moon after the game. As LeBron gave his thoughts while praising the man above, “It’s always been family over everything. For me, I lost a lot of time because of this league and committing to this league. Being on the road at times, missing a lot of his things, Bryce’s things, Zhuri’s things, so to be able to have this moment where I’m working still and I can work alongside my son, it’s one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever gotten from the man above.”

Even though it’s still early for Geno Smith to see those dreams, he did say, “That’s the goal,” on the show itself. But it wasn’t the only dream he resonated with his cousin, as he made an outlandish remark about Jeremiah last month.
What’s your perspective on:
Could Geno Smith and Jeremiah Smith become the NFL's first father-son duo, like LeBron and Bronny?

Geno Smith calls Jeremiah Smith “the best receiver ever”
After just two games in college football, Geno Smith made a bold prediction that could raise some eyebrows in the NFL. Although the 18-year-old at that time had already recorded 11 catches for 211 yards with 3 TDs, his cousin had some high praises. “I’ve seen a lot of great receivers and I’ve had the chance to watch since he was about 10 years old. He’s going to be the best receiver ever, I really believe that.” Well, since those special words, Jeremiah has completed 32 catches for 553 yards with 7 TDs after just five games in the NCAA.

But he wasn’t the only one who spoke highly of the Ohio State receiver as ESPN’s college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit added, “Jeremiah Smith is holy cow good. I mean. I can’t wait to see what he’s gonna do with Emeka and the rest of the group they have there.” While it’s still early to put him among the best receivers in the game, Jeremiah does have the potential to reach there. But only time will tell whether he can reach the NFL on time before Geno Smith is still there.
Can they really etch their names in the NFL history books in the coming years? Well, we will find out soon as both continue to lead their teams in their respective divisions.
