The Seattle Seahawks just want us to move on from Sam Darnold‘s wild-card game. After his acquisition, the franchise has added a new weapon for the offense as well. The Seahawks had a great season last year, but even with a 10-7 regular-season record, they couldn’t make it. Darnold was 5th in touchdowns and 5th in passing yards last season. Now, almost all the hopes are on Sam Darnold to secure more wins this season. And to achieve that, the Seahawks added a $3.4 million wide receiver to the roster.

A couple of hours ago, the Seahawks, via their official Instagram page, announced that the organization has signed Steven Sims, who played his previous season with the Houston Texans and the Baltimore Ravens. Though his current deal with the Seahawks has not been revealed yet, sources suggest it could be around his previous contracts. He signed a one-year, $1,325,000 deal with the Texans for 2024 but was traded to Lamar Jackson‘s team mid-season, where he didn’t play a single game. And now, he’s got a fresh deal to play with Darnold. But why Steven Sims?

If we take a look at the stats, Steven Sims has played 50 games throughout his career. In terms of receiving, he has averaged 9 yards per reception and while achieving that, he has recorded 78 catches on 119 targets for 704 yards.

Sims has also scored five receiving touchdowns, but the sad part is that he has only scored one touchdown after his rookie season. In terms of the rushing game, Sims didn’t score any touchdowns in any season except his first year in the league. But even with that, the Seahawks believe in Sam Darnold’s newly added companion.

However, the Seattle Seahawks are also known for moving on from star players. After all, this is a business. A few years ago, they moved on from a star quarterback who helped them win the Super Bowl. It’s none other than Russell Wilson, who is making headlines today for his new deal with the Giants.

Russell Wilson: The new sheriff in New York

Adam Schefter of ESPN dropped a shocking update today that stirred social media. “The Giants and Super Bowl-winning QB Russell Wilson reached an agreement today on a one-year deal worth up to $21 million, including $10.5 million guaranteed. The 10-time Pro Bowler had been in discussions with the Giants, Browns, and Steelers, but is opting for New York.” The insider also noted that Wilson chose the New York team, where he won his first and only Super Bowl (XLVIII) at MetLife Stadium.

Wilson has been a free agent since parting ways with the Denver Broncos, where he had a staggering five-year, $242,588,236 deal. Even before that, he had a massive $140,000,000 extension with Sam Darnold’s Seahawks from 2019 to 2023. The Seahawks hold a special place in Russell Wilson’s heart. He won the Super Bowl with them in an outstanding 43-8 victory over the Broncos in the 2013-14 season.

It’s been a decade, and experts say there’s still some juice left in Russell Wilson’s quarterback career. After moving on from Darnold’s Seahawks and the Broncos and spending time as a free agent, Art Rooney’s Pittsburgh Steelers were in the mix to sign him, but now he is expected to have a great season with the Giants.
