Saquon Barkley just bulldozed his way to a Super Bowl ring, shattered rushing records, and cemented himself as the NFL’s most electric running back. But as confetti settled in New Orleans, Barkley’s focus shifted. A cryptic tweet suddenly cut through the joy of a Super Bowl win. And Philly fans were left on the edge of their seats.

When Saquon Barkley tweeted, “If I don’t break 80 this offseason… I gotta give up the game,” Eagles fans panicked. Was their Super Bowl hero hinting at retirement? Was it about his contract? Bonuses? It seems unlikely, but can it be the victory parades?

Nope. Turns out Barkley’s “game” was golf—not football. Barkley’s new obsession? Shooting under 80 on the golf course. Pro golfer Bryson DeChambeau cheekily replied, “How about we just Break 50 together 👀”.

Barkley fired back: “Just say the word!! I’m kinda rusty.. was a little busy 😂😂” (Hint: “Busy” winning a Super Bowl). But while Barkley swaps cleats for clubs, the Eagles face a real loss. More on that later…

Since we were talking contracts and bonuses… Barkley earned $1.5 million in bonuses, including $250k for hoisting the Lombardi. But Barkley’s offseason focus? Golf. He joked about his Merion Golf Club round with President Obama and Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie in October 2024: “They were winning the match, [Obama] and Mr. Lurie. They had the lead and [I] said something to the notion of ‘Let’s see if he can finish there.'” Bogey, double bogey, bogey—but that last putt?

Magic. Teammate Jalen Hurts watched, sidelined by a no-golf clause in his $255M contract. Hurts, who swapped golf for tennis, soaked wisdom from Obama alongside Barkley. “treats people, from the caddie, to anybody that came up to him, looked him in the eye. He made sure he had conversations with him, asked him what their name was,” Saquon Barkley noted.

Can the Eagles maintain their offensive prowess without Kellen Moore, or is a decline inevitable?

“When you’re at that level, and you still take the time to do that, it was genuine too. You could tell it was genuine. It inspires me—I try to do that already—but you can always try to do that even more.” Saquon added. And that leadership fueled Philly’s locker room cohesion. But with OC Kellen Moore gone, Hurts faces his fourth OC in six seasons. Can he adapt again?

A new challenge in the big easy

On February 11, two days after Philly’s 40-22 Super Bowl LIX triumph, Moore agreed to lead New Orleans. His departure stings. Moore’s adaptable play-calling fueled the NFL’s second-best rushing attack (179.3 yards/game) and unlocked Barkley’s record 2,005-yard regular season. “Oh, I love it. He’s super smart. He’s a genius. I think the biggest thing I appreciate with him is how open he is to listen to his players and listen to ideas that we have,” Barkley said of Moore earlier this month. However, the Eagles must find a new offensive architect now.

Moore, 36, becomes the NFL’s youngest head coach, tasked with reviving a 5-12 Saints squad. His track record? Top-five offenses since 2019. Saints GM Mickey Loomis praised Moore’s “clear vision.” Yet Philly’s loss is New Orleans’ gain. The Eagles’ offense thrived on balance—Moore blended Barkley’s ground dominance with Hurts’ dual-threat flair. Philly’s front office now scrambles for Moore’s replacement. Potential candidates?

Keep an eye on internal promotions or seasoned play-callers. Meanwhile, Barkley’s $37.75M deal runs through 2026, with escalators boosting future pay. Another 2,000-yard season? Maybe. Breaking 80 in golf? Tiger, next! He must be grinning. Yet, Moore’s exit raises questions: Can Philly’s offense stay elite, or will Barkley need more than a killer swing to defend their title?

The Eagles’ 2024 magic blended Barkley’s legs, Hurts’ arm, and Moore’s brains. However, with Moore in New Orleans and Barkley grinding putts, Philly’s repeat bid hinges on fresh schemes and relentless drive. One thing’s certain: Barkley won’t “give up” on either game. But can the Eagles’ offense survive without its mastermind? Who’s your pick to fill Moore’s shoes?
