On the day when the Eagles could have wrapped up the NFC East on enemy turf. And make it 11 wins in a row while doing so. They could do either of them. Instead, the Commanders made them pay a heavy price for not taking their chances on Sunday. Losing their star QB Jalen Hurts to a concussion very early into the game threw the Eagles’ game plan out of the window.

Their running back Saquon Barkley, who had 2 early TDs in the first quarter, couldn’t carry on his momentum. Well, Washington’s defense kept Barkley in check for the remainder of the game. As the former Giants running back could only muster 41 yards on 22 carries in the final three quarters. This led Barkley to talk about some self-introspection after the game, “We didn’t do enough. We left a lot of plays out there. Including myself. “I’ve got to catch it. We’ve got to learn from this” Now, Barkley wasn’t the only one who bashed his team’s performance in Washington.

Their head coach, Nick Sirianni, was also not pleased with his team’s showing in a crucial game. He called his Eagles sloppy while pointing out the penalties (10) and turnover (5) they conceded today, “When it’s sloppy with every piece of that, it’s always going to be on me as the head coach.” Those 10 penalties led to the Eagles losing 91 yards in return, which proved to be costly at the end of the game. Well, the Eagles had the perfect opportunity to win when 3 minutes on the clock still remained in Washington.

However, they couldn’t complete a first down with their game’s last offensive drive. Instead, the Phillies settled for a 40-yard field goal, with the Commanders still having a final drive left. And they capitalised on it heavily as rookie QB Jayden Daniels completed all four of his passes for 35 yards to help the Commanders win 36-33.

As Daniels threw 5 TDs on the day, the Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is set to enter concussion protocol. And their head coach didn’t have any update for us.

Nick Sirianni offers no update on Jalen Hurts injury

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Eagles rely too heavily on Jalen Hurts, or was it just an off day?

Have an interesting take?

While all eyes were on Sirianni to offer us an update on Hurts head injury. He chose to deal in silence without offering any real update on his QB. It was a day to forget for the Eagles QB, as he couldn’t even make it past the first quarter. This was the first time this season that Hurts ended up missing more than a play, citing injury concerns. So what happened that led to the Eagles’ signal caller getting ruled out before the game left first gear? Well, it all came down to a 13-yard run that Hurts had going into Washington’s 21-yard line.

However, his run came to a devasting end as the Commanders LB Frankie Luvu collided with the Eagles QB. As the referees suggested, him to leave the game. Hurts refused to do so and ended up coming back into the huddle. But the men in black and white stripes weren’t having any of that. This time, he was thrown out for good and made his way into the blue tent. From there, Hurts went back to his locker room while getting ruled out in the second quarter.

Now, replacing him on the gridiron, Kenny Pickett made an instant impact. His 3-yard TD pass to AJ Brown gave the Eagles a comfortable 14-0 lead with 7 minutes of first quarter left. And we all know what happened thereafter. As the Eagles capitulated to the Commanders who stopped them from winning the NFC East at their ground on Sunday.
