The Seahawks wrapped up 2024 in the most Seahawks way possible—tied with the Rams for the NFC West, only to lose the division on a strength-of-victory tiebreaker. Brutal déjà vu. That marked the second straight season Seattle missed the playoffs by that exact technicality. So naturally, the front office decided to shake things up. Geno Smith? Off to Sin City for a Pete Carroll reunion. And in his place? Sam Darnold.
Now, if you’re scratching your head—you’re not alone. They are not buying it at all. On Reddit, one fan said what everyone was thinking: “Why Sam Darnold? I don’t understand why we would trade our mid quarterback… to go sign another mid quarterback?” Another replied, trying to make it make sense: “He’s younger and cheaper?” So, a budget reboot maybe.
And right on cue, a familiar voice dropped in with a little spice. Quandre Diggs reposted an AI image of Blitz the Seahawk holding a beer and hit send on this gem: “Sheeeesh I leave for 1 year and you turned into this? @BlitzTheSeahawk.” That’s basically Diggs saying, ‘I step out for one season, and y’all let the place fall apart?’ Fans felt it. One hit back with a quick “Come back Nino.”

Quandre was more than just another name on the roster. In Seattle, he was the backbone. Three straight Pro Bowls, 18 picks, a steady leader who brought the juice every week. Even in 2023, when his numbers dipped, he still started all 17 games. One pick, five passes defended—not elite, but still solid. That 103.9 passer rating allowed, though? Oof.
Still, when the Titans grabbed him in 2024, it felt like a lowkey steal. But something went wrong in Tennessee for him.
Quandre Diggs wouldn’t wanna relive the 2024 season
When the Titans brought in Quandre Diggs last year, the hype was real. A one-year deal. $3 million base. Another $2 million in incentives on the table. Tennessee was cooking—Jamal Adams, L’Jarius Sneed, Chidobe Awuzie, Kenneth Murray Jr.—all in the mix. On paper, it looked like a top-five defense.

What’s your perspective on:
Did the Seahawks just downgrade with Sam Darnold, or is there a hidden genius in this move?
Have an interesting take?
Diggs was living up to that ‘steal’ label. By week 8, he’d racked up 42 tackles—35 of them solo. Then week 9 hit. Mid-game against the Patriots, he goes in on a tackle against DeMario Douglas and boom—Lisfranc injury. Just like that, his season was over as he required surgery.
Without him, the Titans’ secondary started to feel the heat. They were already fighting through injuries—Lloyd Cushenberry tore his Achilles—and Diggs’ absence felt like a gut punch. And the defense never quite recovered.
And here’s where it gets messy. Quandre Diggs was on a prove-it deal. One year to show he still had that Seattle Pro Bowl magic. Instead, he’s 32, healing from a serious foot injury, and heading into free agency with more question marks than offers. It’s not about his résumé—three Pro Bowls speak for themselves—but the league doesn’t do sentimentality.

So where does he go from here? Can a veteran safety with elite instincts and a busted foot find one more shot? Or was that tackle in week 9 the Last Dance for the #6? Diggs hopes not.
