Justin Reid is back in the state. The Kansas City Chiefs have lost a gem from their defensive squad. Kellen Moore and the New Orleans Saints have found a defensive talent in Reid, who was a native of this state. Born in Geismar, Louisiana, the 28-year-old safety has confessed an honest reaction after returning to New Orleans, Louisiana. In fact, the defender has also shared eye-opening nuances from the Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss on February 9, 2025.
But before we understand his take on the Super Bowl LIX, let’s explore what Justin Reid said about coming back home. Reid conversed with Kay Adams on her Up and Adams show. When she asked about the trade to New Orleans, the safety said, “I feel pretty good. I’m really excited about how the situation unfolded.”
He also added, “For a reason, free agency is always so crazy. Because you never know where things are going to end up. But it ended up working out in a really great way.” Well, for Reid, this trade has been a homecoming.

To discuss his contract, Justin Reid was in the last year of his tenure with the Chiefs and signed a three-year contract worth up to $31,500,000 with the Saints last week. And guess what, out of the total deal, Reid will definitely get $22,250,000 as it’s the guaranteed amount.
Lastly, Reid took home an average salary of $10,500,000, according to Spotrac. Don’t know if it’s a coincidence or what, but the Chiefs also inducted Reid on their roster for three years and the contract value was also $ 31,500,000. Interesting, right?
After the Houston Texans snapped him up in the 2018 NFL draft, he spent four years in Houston before leaving for Kansas City for the 2022 season. And now, it looks like God’s will to send him to enjoy three years in NOLA with new teammates and a head coach.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Justin Reid's homecoming spark a new era of success for the Saints after their 2010 win?

Last year might have been a fine experience for Reid, but there was an incompleteness you can’t deny- the Lombardi trophy with the three-peat.
Justin Reid’s honest confession on SB loss
A few weeks ago, on February 9, the Chiefs lost a historic opportunity to win the Super Bowl for the third time in a row. But it just didn’t happen. The flock of Eagles just got dominant in Chiefs from start to end. It was even a suffocating loss for QB superstar Patrick Mahomes, as he couldn’t resist staggering six sacks in the Super Bowl.
Well, the whole world saw what happened on that day.

But from the former Chiefs safety’s perspective, it’s different. When Kay Adams asked Justin about the same, he could hold back himself to say, “Wish we could have made history.”
To elaborate, Justin honestly said, “Despite the result, I wish we could have made history, got three in a row, but still, to even get to that opportunity, still get to that stage and have that opportunity to do that, it’s something to be extremely proud of.” But hold on for a bit, Justin Reid didn’t stop there.

The 28-year-old safety also talked about mistakes the Chiefs made in the shameful 40-22 loss. Talking about the start, Reid said, “They jumped out so quickly. And then once the bleeding started, it was hard to stop it and turn momentum.”
And talking about the flaw, the safety also said, “We wanted to come out and have an explosive play in the second half.” Uff!
But the Eagles grabbed the trophy after the SB re-match. History was made when someone won a Super Bowl rematch for the first time. And with the Eagles’ win, it shattered Justin Reid’s three-peat dream.
