“Everyone likes to say it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert. That’s a famous book. Certainly, I felt like being around it for a long time led me into the opportunities that I’ve been presented. I’ve preparing for this my entire life. I feel ready.” Judging by how Kellen Moore has approached his first head coaching gig since taking over the Saints. Ready could be an understatement to define Moore’s plans. It’s like he already knew whom he wanted around him to get this rebuild started.

Yes, he may have just won a Super Bowl where his offense averaged 27.2 points in the regular season. But when you are given the task of supervising a rebuild, you cannot do it alone. You need guys around you who are equally motivated to succeed in their roles. With that being said, the Saints have brought home a known member to bolster Moore’s coaching staff. On Tuesday morning, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero tweeted, the return of longtime Saints running back coach Joel Thomas.

Like there’s no one better than Thomas who will know his way around the Big Easy. He used to serve as the Saints running back from 2015 to 2023. However, when the Saints went with Derrick Foster, who has since left for the Dallas Cowboys. Moore was quick to poach Thomas, who was with the Giants last season. Well, the one and only season Thomas spent in MetLife saw him play a huge hand in rookie RB Tyrone Tracy Jr.’s development.

Tracy Jr. had an explosive season where he rushed for 839 yards on 192 carries while scoring 5 TDs. Like Tyrone almost eclipsed Saquon Barkley’s record of 962 rushing yards on 247 carries and 6 TDs a year before. This shows how much of a huge role Thomas will be playing when he comes back to work again with Alvin Kamara. However, he is not the only coach the Saints have hired today. They have also brought in a QB coach, Scott Tolzien, who used to work with Moore when they were in Dallas.

Now, while the Saints have on giving Kellen Moore what he needs to take them out of their trenches. It seems the Giants are still undecided on their QB room. Latest reports are suggesting they are willing to take a veteran route for next season.

New York Giants expected to hand bring a veteran QB to start their rebuild

See, no doubt the Saints were bad last season, losing seven consecutive games for the first time since the 1999 season. But at least they salvaged some face by winning 5 games after starting on a two-game winning streak, scoring 80-plus points. However, compared to the G-Men, that was nothing. They went on a 10-game losing streak in what was their centurion season in the NFL. Like what a great way to celebrate 100 years of a storied franchise. The Giants were one game away from getting the No.1 overall pick.

What’s your perspective on:

Is bringing back Joel Thomas a smart move, or should the Saints have looked for fresh talent?

Have an interesting take?

However, that’s when they realised—Oh, the season is ending, so let’s end on a high. Beating the Colts changed their offseason plans and pushed them down to the No.3 overall pick. If they just lost one game, it was a clear path to draft either Miami’s Cam Ward or Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. Now, the plans have changed the Titans and the Browns have No.1 and No.2 overall picks. And they could probably pick either of them, leaving the Giants empty-handed. That’s why senior NFL reporter Charles Robinson believes the Giants are probably now working to get a veteran QB for next season.

“Man, they’re really hard on the veteran class of quarterbacks right now.” See, there are numerous options from Matthew Stafford, Russell Wilson, and Sam Darnold. All of them are somewhat available, barring Stafford, for whom the Giants may need to give up some picks. But right now, everything is just ifs and buts. There’s nothing concrete; all are just rumors swirling around in the winds of the offseason. So, only time will tell whom they actually go with to solve their QB woes next season.
