These are interesting times in the NFL, every few hours there is some news or rumor about a team or player and we just can’t get enough of it. The New Orleans Saints are especially one team that has been under the microscope ever since the season ended. Everyone has been curious to see who joins Kellen Moore at the Saints. And well we now have some news about the same.

The Saints have now filled a key position as they have hired Brandon Staley as their new defensive coordinator. Ian Rapport recently took to X to share the news. He posted, ” The #Saints are hiring former #Chargers coach Brandon Staley as the defensive coordinator for coach Kellen Moore, per The Insiders. Staley was an assistant this year with the #49ers, and before LAC, he burst onto the scene as a #Rams DC. Now, lands in NO.”

Well, this move doesn’t come as a surprise, does it? Moore and Staley have worked together before at the Chargers. That time though, the tables were turned a bit as Staley was the HC then, while Moore was the offensive coordinator. Their time with the Chargers though, wasn’t very good. Still, all that matters though is that the pair have worked together in the past and share a bond that will certainly help the Saints. With this hiring, Moore has rounded up his coaching staff, and it would be interesting to see how they do in the coming season.

Speaking of Kevin Moore, many people believe that his leaving the Eagles will be a big blow to the team. After all, he was a part of the staff that helped them win the Super Bowl. Well, even though that might be true, several people shared their feelings on the Eagles’ new OC, and well, they were all praises for him. The Eagles hired Kevin Patullo as their OC recently and AJ Brown for one believes that it is great. Talking about the same, Brown recently said, “I truly feel like it’s a great hire.”

Well, while Browns is optimistic about the hire, one will need to see how that pans out. For the Saints with Brandon Staley joining as DC, Kellen Moore has finalized his coaching staff. Their past connection could help the Saints build a strong foundation. Now, all eyes are on how they perform in the upcoming season.

Can Keenan Allan join the Saints?

The Saints are looking to rebuild this season, and Moore’s focus will be solely on that. They have 4 picks in the top three rounds of the draft, and he will want to make the best use of them. But will that be all? It’s not just the drafts that the Saints should focus on, the team should also have their eye on free agency. And if Jacob Camenkar is to be believed, they should look towards a veteran WR.

What’s your perspective on:

Will the Moore-Staley duo finally bring the Saints the success they couldn't achieve with the Chargers?

Have an interesting take?

Well, Keenan Allan is headed for free agency this season and it is highly unlikely that the Bears will extend his contract. So, can the former Chargers man head to the Saints? Well, Camenkar certainly agrees and wrote,” Saints have kicked the can down the road enough that they are a whopping $54.1 million over the cap entering the 2025 NFL offseason. That will significantly limit their ability to make significant signings.”

“Going after a veteran like Allen, who turns 33 in April, might suffice. The Saints need a No. 2 receiver across from Chris Olave and Allen could fill that void on a reasonable contract.” Well, why not, after the hiring of Staley, Moore might want to reunite with another one of his Chargers teammates. And it makes sense for Allen too, doesn’t it? Olave will be the No. 1 receiver for the Saints and the 32-year-old would be best suited to support him.

Well, we will have to wait and see if this move happens, and while it does make sense, the Saints might count on their draft picks more. It will be interesting to see, though, how Moore and his team go about their signings. With his coaching staff now final, the Saints HC can fully focus on this and hopefully bring in some exciting talent to the Saints.
