On Thanksgiving, the Chicago Bears fired Matt Eberflus, after his arguably visible poor, late-game clock management against the Lions. And from that day onwards, general manager Ryan Poles’s team is leaving no stone unturned to find their next HC for the vacant spot. Hence, now a new update is out!
According to Underdog NFL on X, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said, “Bears to interview Pete Carroll for HC vacancy on Thursday.” Carroll was the head coach of Seattle for 14 years, who was released by the team last offseason. So, now after a season break, it’s quite possible that he might return to the field as the Bears’s HC. Why?
Well, it’s because as per the reports, the feelings are mutual between Ryan Poles’s team and Carroll. In his 14 years of the Seahawks career, Carroll has led the team to 10 postseason appearances and a Super Bowl XLVIII championship.

Hence, after recruiting Pete Carroll, Ryan Poles and the Bears will be able to put up a Super Bowl-winning coach, who might lead the team to win after 1986. However, that doesn’t mean Poles and his team are only looking for Carroll to join. They have more options available, such as Mike Vrabel, whom they plan to interview on Wednesday.
Besides that, there is also one news that is buzzing all over the internet.
The Dallas Cowboys rejected Ryan Poles’s offer?
Yes, you heard it right! As per Adam Schefter, “The Dallas Cowboys denied permission to the Chicago Bears to interview their head coach Mike McCarthy.” It seems they don’t want to part ways with McCarthy even after an arguably poor season. The Cowboys won 7 games this season and lost 10 on their way.

However, despite this record and failure to clinch a playoff spot, Jerry Jones wants to keep Mike McCarthy in their franchise. This is also evident in sportscaster Jon Machota’s retweet, where he shared Schefter’s tweet and said, “This appears to be a sign that Jerry Jones has real interest in keeping Mike McCarthy as Cowboys head coach.”
But what exactly does Jerry Jones think? Well, during a press conference on Jan 5, when reporters asked him about the future of coach McCarthy, Jones expressed, “I don’t know that I am considering making a change is really what I’m trying to say.” The Cowboys owner didn’t confirm anything there on the HC’s future, but when Ryan Poles offered an interview, he directly rejected it. This suggests Jones’s intent to keep McCarthy, even after the team’s 29 seasons of Super Bowl drought.
