Is Justin Fields the key to a Falcons' resurgence, or is he being held back?

Steeler Nation, the game is on! Not the football game, but the race between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. It stood still for some weeks, but the debate has reignited. The veteran was declared the starting QB. However, once his calf injury re-aggravated, Fields took center stage and shone in 4 outings. 3 consecutive victories in the first 3 games before a loss against the Colts. That’s pretty good.

Now, Wilson looks ready to come back. Former Steelers safety Ryan Clark blasted the offensive coordinator for not giving Fields enough opportunities and said, “Here’s what makes me mad about Arthur Smith. Why don’t we do it more? Like he (Fields) has been so good, like pushing the football down the field, hitting George Pickens in those one-on-one situations. getting outside the pocket, giving guys the opportunity for yards after the catch.

Things have turned out well for Fields. The offense has clicked with him. In 4 games, the quarterback has 77 of 109 passes (70.6% passing accuracy) with 830 yards and 3 touchdowns. He has scored equal touchdowns in rushing as well. But the ex-NFLer was hurt by the loss in the week 4 game.

Against the Colts, the Steelers ended the first half with 3-17. The OC attempted a comeback, but in vain. Clark referred to this and said, “We act like we got to wait till the game get tight in the second half. Let’s go attack them (Cowboys) early.” It might happen. But the chances are slim.

The paradox of choice has risen again. Russell Wilson is back to practice. Though the team wants to see him fully fit, anything can happen if they lose again. The veteran has already expressed his eagerness to play by being fully equipped on the sidelines.

Smith and Tomlin will have to make adjustments if they want to play Wilson as the starting quarterback and get Fields out.

Justin Fields ain’t worried about Russell Wilson’s comeback

The young quarterback is ready. And he’s sticking to his mantra. When Wilson was made starting quarterback before the season began, he said that he would continue doing whatever he did. Now again, he has echoed his stance.

Fields expressed confidence in the coach’s decision and said, “I’m just going to keep doing what I’ve been doing. Whatever decision (Tomlin) makes, he makes. I can only control what I do on the field.” While there has been no bad blood between both QBs, Wilson’s actions have often raised doubts.

When the Steelers went 3-0, Wilson congratulated everyone except Fields. He posted several IG stories, including TJ Watt and Calvin Austin. But there was not a single praise for the young QB. Fans were abuzz with the possibility of a cold war. But there are bigger tasks at hand now after a defeat.

On the 6th of October, the Steelers play against the Cowboys. Will the OC give Fields the space to be himself? Or will we see a change?
