A few months ago, Russell Wilson and Ciara’s organization, Why Not You Foundation, partnered with Colossal to launch the Dance Icon competition. We’re talking about a competition in which over 100,000 dancers from across the nation participated, showcasing their talent and passion. But the interesting part? Well, the event wasn’t just about dancing; it was a platform to raise awareness and funds for the Why Not You Foundation. And there’s just one goal. It’s to focus on empowering youth through education and health initiatives.

And now? On Thursday, Ciara took to her official ‘X’ handle and announced that the Dance Icon competition has raised $2.5 million in funds. To top that off, the 39-year-old singer also announced the winner of the event, as well as a lifetime opportunity for the winner. “$2,579,747 Million Raised for the @WhyNotYouFDN, Lexington won 20 Thousand Dollars and will appear in my next video, AND we will impact lives through this whole experience!” Ciara wrote in her post.

“My heart is beyond full of gratitude!! Thank you to Colosal and everyone that lent a hand, and participated in the Dance Icon competition! It wouldn’t be a success without you all you all! CICI loves you so much 🫶🏽.” Right after that went down, Russell Wilson re-shared her post and shared a message for his wife and his foundation. “So Proud,” he wrote. “Grateful for all the lives positively impacted!”

On April 9, the Dance Icon competition culminated in a live finale in Phoenix, Arizona, where the finalists performed routines inspired by Ciara’s songs, each demonstrating versatility, creativity, and drive. To make the finale more interesting, Ciara, along with her longtime choreographer, Jamaica Craft, attended the finale of the competition to surprise the participants. The singer even congratulated Lexington Sutle, who won the competition.

Ciara presented Sutle with her prize and gave her a lifetime opportunity to appear in one of Ciara’s music videos. “Winning this competition means everything. It’s proof that you can come from anywhere to make it, as long as you have your why,” said Sutle, who had been dancing for 16 years.

Safe to say that teaming up with Colossal really brought the whole dance world together and pushed some real change, just the kind of thing Ciara’s always believed in. And why not? I mean, for her, dance isn’t just moves—it’s power, connection, and a way to lift people up.

“Collaborating with Colossal to support the Why Not You Foundation has been such a fun way to engage the global dance community and create meaningful impact through the power of dance. When the world dances together, amazing things happen,” Ciara said. She concluded, “I think really amazing things happen when the world starts to dance, and this competition is a testament to the love for the power of dance, but also for the power of impact.”
