Even the greatest QBs see downfall days. Once the heart and soul of the Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson‘s career has been a roller coaster since 2022. After two average and injury-hailed seasons with Denver, Russ found his new home in Pittsburgh. The journey with the Steelers started with a calf injury, but things looked good when he stepped on the gridiron in Week 7. Sadly, the success lasted only five games.

But Russ was confident about making changes for next season. “I’m focused on the Steelers,” he said after the offseason. And in turn, the Steelers turned their back on him by letting him walk in free agency. That pretty much said everything!

Now, with the first wave of free agency behind us, Russ and Aaron Rodgers are the two veteran QBs still up for grabs. So, while Rodgers’ situation remains its saga, a couple of teams, including the Browns and the Giants, have been eyeing Wilson. The 36-year-old even had meetings with both teams last week, according to reports.

The talk of the town is that the Steelers QB will most likely sign with the Giants and interestingly.

It looks like the Super Bowl XLVIII champ has already started preparing for the next season. Russ has shared his practice videos from the offseason more often. On Wednesday, the veteran QB once again shared a video from the field, this time with a four-word message. “Hard work pays off,” he wrote while adding “A Star Is Born” by J. Cole and Jay-Z to the story.

Rumors of Russ possibly heading to New York started swirling after another picture he recently shared. On March 17, the QB posted a snap of his stepson, Future Zahir Wilburn, decked out in NY Yankees gear.

“Future @mlb⭐ @yankees,” he captioned. Interestingly, this wasn’t the first time. Back in March, Russ shared another picture of Zahir, captioning it, “Young Baller. Love seeing you shine! Grateful for moments like these at the Ballpark Together. Next Jeter? ⚾🏟️” while tagging the Yankees. It also had Giants fans wondering whether the QB subtly hinted at a move to the franchise.

Well, if that turns out to be genuine, the Browns better start searching for a new option.

Is Russell Wilson the missing piece for the Giants, or just another gamble in their QB saga?

Russell Wilson’s Giants hint: Browns’ hopes fading fast

The Giants‘ possible strategy is to sign Russell Wilson and then draft Shedeur Sanders next month. Moreover, the Cleveland Browns are finally ready to move on from Deshaun Watson and continue to face an enormous QB crisis. The team could have the option to draft a rookie next month, but they want to go the ‘rookie + veteran’ way.

The team had a meeting with Russ but reportedly could not reach an agreement. With Russ allegedly showing interest in the Giants, the $5.15 billion franchise, Cleveland is left with Carson Wentz.

Wentz, a backup to Patrick Mahomes during the 2024 season, saw no action the entire season. The QB played a few minutes in the fourth quarter of Week 15 when Mahomes hurt his ankle. He then played the final game of the regular season against the Broncos, where they were shut out in a 38–0 loss. That’s all.

Simply put, the Browns’ QB worries seem far from solved. NFL Draft Expert Todd McShay reported, “I truly believe Shedeur Sanders is in play with that No. 2 pick for the Cleveland Browns.” But the word is that Deion Sanders has a list of teams he doesn’t want his son to join.

If that’s the case, it adds more to the Browns’ worries. To state the truth, they’re not the only ones dealing with a QB crisis. The Steelers and Giants are in the mix too. For now, no team has signed Russ, so nothing is set in stone yet.
