“Believe in the talent God has given you, even though you are 5-11, and you can go a long ways.” Russell Wilson used to say those words to himself whenever he had insecurities about his height as a QB. Like there were some serious questions about whether Russ could have succeeded as a signal caller. Those concerns led to him getting selected as the 75th overall pick in the 2012 draft. But look at him now, after 13 years. Russ truly came a long way from short-stature QB talks to celebrating 10 years of his lone Super Bowl win with the Seahawks.
The Seahawks Nation would probably never forget the date 2nd February that changed the course of their franchise. On this date, 10 years ago, the Seahawks won their first Super Bowl in franchise history, guided by the hands of none other than a 5-11 QB Russell Wilson. So, when Russ came across the Seahawks’ official X account reminiscing that Super Bowl XLVIII win in New York. He also chipped in with his views, remembering that memorable day at MetLife Stadium by retweeting the post, “Forever! Super Bowl XLVIII Champs.”

See, that wasn’t just a Super Bowl win. It was simply a blowout 43-8 victory over none other than Hall of Famer Peyton Manning’s Broncos. Yes, that’s right. Russ, who was playing just his second season in the NFL, led the Seahawks to a mammoth win over already-established winner Peyton Manning. On a night when the stakes couldn’t have been higher, Russ excelled in the opportunity to win it for Seattle. He completed 18 of his 25 passes while throwing 206 passing yards and two TDs. But the thing that truly made the difference against a juggernaut like Manning was turnovers.
Manning was intercepted twice while losing a fumble. As for Wilson, he didn’t lose the ball once, even though the stats weren’t that great. Like make no mistake, he came up against Peyton Manning, who shattered all sorts of records in the regular season. His 5,477 passing yards and 55 TDs didn’t mean anything on the night when Wilson’s Seahawks prevailed. Now, 13 years have gone by in a flash. Wilson moved on from the Seahawks, flopped in Denver, and delivered an okay season with the Steelers. And with his future still yet to be decided, Wilson gave a sneak peek of what could happen in the coming days.

Russell Wilson’s reunion with Pete Carroll looks bleak
Ever since the Las Vegas Raiders brought former Seahawks coach Pete Carroll to kickstart their rebuilding era under Tom Brady’s ownership. Russell Wilson has found himself regularly pulled into the speculation of reuniting with Carroll. After Jeff Howe of The Athletic reported, “With Pete Carroll taking over the Raiders, one name I’ve heard to watch at QB: Russell Wilson. They’ve mended fences.” Those rumors only grew further, with many touting Wilson as a short-term answer to the Raiders QB situation. But it looks like Wilson’s eyes are fixated somewhere else.
He just wants to stay in Pittsburgh and continue playing for the Black and Gold. His recent interview with Mark Long of the Associated Press revealed, “I’m looking forward to hopefully going back to the Steelers and we’ll see what happens with the rest. I love it in Pittsburgh.” A few days back, Wilson also gave an update on the Pat McAfee Show about his future in Pittsburgh. When asked whether there has been any talk of returning, Wilson expressed, “Yes, we have been starting to talk a little bit. We’ve had our meetings and everything else. Just getting into it. So I think that it’s an exciting time to be a Pittsburgh Steeler and the opportunity of what we can do.”

So, by the looks of it. Russ may push for a return to Pittsburgh. And we may have to wait for that Seahawks reunion in Vegas for a little while.
