Russell Wilson is welcoming the 2025 NFL season with zest! While no official decision has been made yet regarding his future prospects with the Steelers, it seems like he is prepping enthusiastically for the upcoming season. The Super Bowl will end this Feb 10, and as the NFL will take a brand new pace again, the status of Steelers’ QB1 is still undecided. While Wilson is out of contract, does the possibility of his return to the Steelers still loom around the corners?

Wilson shared a Steelers IG post on his Instagram story. Captioned, “The 2025 season starts now, ‘HereWeGo’.” While he reiterated their message, probably hinting at his willingness to continue with the team, the reports state otherwise. The Steelers had a disappointing 2024 season, as Wilson helmed it. Losing the final five regular season games, they faced a staggering wildcard loss against the Ravens, and they were eventually eliminated.

Currently, Wilson is a free agent, as he awaits the Steelers’ decision. The Steelers’ opponents for the 2025 season are now confirmed, as they will first face their AFC North Rivals. This time, the NFL has implemented a 17-game season, hence the Steelers will also play an additional home game. With the NFL’s global expansion, they will play an international game in Croke Park, Dublin. The specific date and the Steelers’ opponent will be announced in spring 2025.

Previously as well, Russell Wilson had shown excitement after the Steelers’ made the international announcement. He shared it on his story with the caption, “🖤💛.” However, things may take a different turn as one of the national reporters predicts that SteelersMike Tomlin is likely to sign Aaron Rodgers.

Mike Tomlin shows an inclination towards Rodgers

Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer recently reported that the New York Jets have decided to part ways with Aaron Rodgers. Now, Rodgers has no restrictions on trading, as the 41-year-old four-time MVP QB faces two options. He can either choose to retire or find a new team.

When asked regarding his future decisions with the NFL, he stated, “I’m just enjoying my time right now. I’ve talked with the Jets. We’ll figure things out when we figure them out.” Glazer, who is also a close friend to Tomlin, stated, “I think you’ll see a new start for Russell somewhere,” and perhaps not with the Steelers as stated in PRO Football and Sports Network article.
