Russell Wilson and Ciara are a power couple for a reason. From being absolute stars in their respective careers to pouring their hearts into philanthropy, the duo uses their power and influence in a way most celebrities don’t. For years, Wilson and Ciara have been running their ‘Why Not You‘ Foundation, which started in 2014 and has helped millions of children. One of its recipients gave a sweet surprise to the ‘Level Up’ singer this week. And let’s just say Ciara’s reaction made everyone a bit emotional.

On Thursday, the Body Party songstress made an appearance on Today With Jenna & Friends. The two were deep in conversation when host Jenna Bush Hager decided to drop a sweet and tear-jerking surprise on Ciara. Wondering what the surprise was? Well, she invited a special guest, Tah-Jae Shante. An aspiring singer connected to the incredible work Ciara and Russell have been doing through their Why Not You Foundation. A clip of Ciara getting emotional as she meets Shante has been making rounds on the internet. And Russ couldn’t stop praising his stunning wife when he came across it. The Steelers QB reshared the clip on his X account and wrote, “You make me so proud with how you love & care for others @Ciara 🥰😍🙏🏾🙌🏾 @WhyNotYouFdn. P.S. you rocked the Today Show as Co-Host!”

Shante was part of ‘Friends of the Children Seattle’, a mentorship program backed by Ciara and Russell Wilson’s Why Not You Foundation. “Back in 2017, I had the fortunate opportunity to meet Ciara and Russell Wilson, along with a few other students. From that moment, I was absolutely in love. Hearing Ciara’s story about how she got into music sparked something in me,” shared Tah-Jae. 

The moment Ciara saw her, she couldn’t hold back her tears. “I am so proud of you, though. And so happy that we could be a part of your journey in some capacity. That’s significant…you represent so many girls around the world. You have no idea how much your story will inspire someone,” the star said emotionally.

Ciara opens up about her marriage with Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson and Ciara have been going strong for nearly a decade now. After meeting for the first time in 2015, the duo instantly clicked -like they’d found the missing puzzle pieces of their lives. The couple shares three children. And Wilson has also embraced Ciara’s son from her previous relationship with rapper Future. The Body Party singer often credits prayer and faith as the foundation of their successful relationship. “A big part of it is speaking life -manifestation is real, praying is real. I know I say it, and I think sometimes it sounds like this kind of lofty idea for some, but the power of prayer is a real thing for my life,” she once shared.

And now, while talking to Jenna Bush Hager, Ciara dropped another interesting tidbit about her relationship. And the secret behind her and Russ’s happy and successful married life is going on dates. Yes, that’s right. “Date night every Friday. Oh, we’ve done that since our beginning days of dating each other. Yeah, and that’s like the good off day for football. Yes, and so we’ve always done that. And then, I will say this past season—or slash, you know, the offseason—we got to level up. I have a few more dates in the week,” she shared.

Ciara also shared that while she loves spending time with her kids, she cherishes her moments with her husband, too. ‘I love being with him…And I need that. Yeah, it’s my moment for us to connect on what’s happening, even things in the house,’ said her.
