Russell Wilson is gearing up for his first season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 35-year-old was released after a disheartening couple of seasons with the Denver Broncos and became one of the most-talked-about figures throughout this offseason. The speculations finally came to rest when the veteran was signed by ‘Blitzburgh’ in a one-year contract.

Wilson is determined to make a comeback in the 2024 season and relive the glory of his Seattle Seahawks days. Whether it be his comparison with contemporaries or conjectures about his upcoming performance, being under constant scrutiny is bound to be frustrating. However, the veteran is keeping his faith in himself and his team intact, as can be guessed by his latest social media post.

The Super Bowl Champion shared a post of a motivational speaker on his Instagram story with the title text reading, ‘Frustrated But Still Faithful.’ The speaker talked about dealing with frustration, which is important on the path to greatness. He said, “One of the tests of greatness is your ability to survive frustration…if frustration on the inside is going to make you quit, what in the world are you going to do when you have frustration on the outside.

This seems to be the mantra Wilson is following this offseason, training for his comeback and ignoring all negativity that is thrown his way. His workout videos have been awing fans online, reminding everyone of his glory days in Seattle. The veteran is not moving ahead alone either and had some encouraging words for his young backup quarterback, Justin Fields.

Kordell Stewart was drafted in 1995 as the backup to Neil O’Donnell. He just had one aim in mind: to play football. Soon, he was playing as the team’s quarterback, running back, and receiver, whichever was required, and got the nickname ‘Slash.’ Fields was tossed the idea of following in the footsteps of the former Steelers QB, and the 25-year-old had a positive response.

Wilson had a similar reception and praised the talent his backup QB holds. “Justin is obviously one of the most talented guys in the NFL,” the veteran said via TribLive. “You know all the things he can do. The player, the quarterback that he is. He’s dynamic. It’s all about us winning. That’s the focus.” Wilson even went on to work out the pros and cons of the move, sharing how having Fields come in for some plays “would strike fear in some defenses, that’s for sure.

However, the former Seahawks star doesn’t want it to become a gimmick as “Justin is a franchise quarterback.” Wilson continued, “He’s a guy that can do a lot of amazing things. So, we have two dynamic guys that can do a lot of special things.” While no Slash-esque role has been confirmed so far, it would be quite interesting to see Fields try his hand at multiple positions.
